Beretta "BRX1" Straight Pull .308Win Rifle (accuracy testing @ 100 yards)

Спорт

The Beretta BRX1 rifle is a straight pull bolt action that provides smooth quick followup shots in the field or on the range. It is available in 6.5 Creedmoor, 308 Winchester, 30-06 Springfield and 300 Winchester Magnum. I tested it in 308 and found it to be ultra reliable without any performance issues at all.

    A review that made sense! Thank you for that, it's rare these days. Round feed and magazine operation are so important in Alaska where you want quick round feed on bears especially. You spoke to that right away and it is appreciated. Trigger pull is so important and you nailed that, too. Well done.

    In North America, I see this rifle best used for Moose, Bear, and Boars that warrant fast following shots or multiple targets in the hunt of Boars. Which is why this rifle needs to be offered in the .338 Winchester Magnum caliber as well. The Alaskan and Canadian guides and hunters would go wild for it and so would the Boar guides and hunters in the Southern U.S.A. A great product from Beretta and a great video review. Thank You.

    Howdy from Canada 🇨🇦. As a lefty the Savage Impulse got my attention being able to swap the bolt to either side but not the case ejection. This rifle has both and I'm amazed how little the bolt handle moves to lock/unlock the action. Sounds like an excellent adjustable trigger too. Very well done review, I'm a new subscriber.

  • @neutronalchemist3241

    @neutronalchemist3241

    They had been quite popular, with several models made, until WWI. Unfortunately the combination of heavy usage and trench warfare took its toll on the inherently weaker extraction of straight pulls. Only the Mannlicher 1895 didn't seem to have problems in that situation. That demonstrated that a robust and reliable military straight pull could be done, but Austria lost the war and was basically canceled from the map, so the Mannlicher action became only a curiosity and, in WWII , all the residual bolt actions used were manually rotating bolts and, with the end of the war, it had became an identity. Bolt action = manually rotating bolts.

    I have had mine for 3 months now and blooded it on a nice NT boar yesterday. I bought it literally as a pig hunt for mainly shooting running boars. Mine is a 20" barrel version in .308 fitted with an Aimpoint Red Dot. Pros; Good ergonomics, acceptable trigger, easy scope mounting, I like that you can remove spacers in the butt to get the LOP just right, I like the matt blued metal work, magazine works well, accurate, I like the safety. Cons: Heavy, could do with being up to 1.5lb lighter. Id pay more for one if it had a carbon fibre stock, Bolt is a pain in the ass to remove, would prefer it available with Iron Sights ( batue configuration), Would like to have large capacity mags available and finally its a very ugly rifle, That rounded for-end is hideous. Overall it's still a very decent quality hunting rifle.

    New rifle ,3 shot groups mostly under an inch. A very accurate rifle for hunting purposes. A better shooter might be able to get slightly better groups but a pointless exercise really. Once it is run in it may shoot better or worse. I have rifles that like having a dirty barrel and others that must be spotlessly clean or they shoot like crap , in particular if shooting pure cooper projectiles like Barnes TTSX. nice rifle would have one tomorrow but do not need any more rifles and haven't won lotto.

As far as the safety, most of the high end European manufacturers offers a manual cocking system instead of a traditional safety. Well done Beretta, they "copied" the R8 Blaser and managed to make a good shotgun at a low cost but in my opinion the Blaser R8 is better, it costs much more but it has all the perfect features and Blaser also has years of experience and has also tested the 375 H&H with the same system and it works very well, however Beretta did well to build the "BRX1" rifle, well done.
