Purchased one of these 2 weeks ago and used it for the first time yesterday (what an amazing place Doveridge is). In my head I wanted a 694, but ended up taking SP V as the dealer had sold the 694. If I hadn’t of been so impulsive I could have tried both at PG’s, so I hope I don’t regret my impatience. Love the videos - always clear, concise and hugely helpful.

I have a new model SP3 which I’m generally very happy with. However I agree with those who don’t really love game birds on a gun primarily used for clays. Have to say I’m quite tempted by the SP5 sporter. I like the deep engraving and the wood on the one you have there looks great.

Just bought a late model original SP V. Am planning on using all steel types through it on the basis these were already made for the American Market which has no HP steel proof stamp - though steel has been mandatory there since 1990...

Wonderful gun, I have the Beretta 686 silver pigeon edition from 1989, still shooting as if it is a new one.

Other than the sideplate, what's the difference between this and the eell? 3k for extra engraving on a sideplate seems a bit steep.

Can you give some history on the 687 EL. I have one, but there seems to be very little information around about them.

There is a 694 model coming out from what i’ve heard with engraving i like the look of these new SP Vs just ashame they didn’t colour case harden it !

Hi matt is the much of a difference between a 686e and 687 sp in sporter I have a 686e and not a lover of it I was looking at the blaser range but the reports are very mixed The 694 seems to have Great reviews

I have a Beretta 682 Gold E, which I just learned they no longer make. Would like to upgrade but don't think a DT11 is currently in my budget. I really like the 682 but curious about it being dropped.

The 682 Gold E was discontinued back in 2012 and superseded by the 692. Now we have the 694 which is an excellent gun and great value if the DT11 is not an option. I hope this helps.

Is the silver lll the most upgraded from the line? Can't find it in US

Would you ever consider doing a review on a 687 diamond pigeon eell? Is it made in a sporter version?

Hi Matt I bought a 693 game on of the last before they discontinued them (i didnt see that coming), I bought it because its slightly higher in the comb as my previous silver pigeon classic and It shoots much better for me, I think the comb drop is 34-55 my question is do you know what the stock dimentions are typically on the game sp5?

Hi Elliott, the standard dimensions should be 35/55 these days. However your Classic could have been the old 38/60. New SP V should be 35/55. I hope this helps. Kind regards, Matt

Are the new PIG 5s gonna be available in case hardened ??

Love the old silver pig 5 and like all berettas, the new one will be brilliant but i am abit disappointed by the engraving. It looks a little kofs like. It might just be the lighting but it looks like it could have done with being abit deeper in places

Smashed it yet again Matt, on a slightly different note, what is the basic difference between the 690 and the 692? I have heard that the 692 ejector system can be, shall we say not as reliable as the 690. I'd appreciate your comments on this. Cheers Neil.

Any chance of some more detail on why they are retiring the 690 series? I bought a 695 so I’m now wondering if I should be buying some spares etc if it’s now discontinued. I intend to keep it forever and hopefully pass it on to my son hence the concern. Cheers

Beretta 695 is so lovely !! Don't worry you will not have any problem. I own a 692 for some years with no problem 14000 shells.

Is the pigeon lll better than 694? What's the difference they both have?

Lovely gun but still dont think its as nice as the 695 that beretta discontinued, it would be nice to see a 694 upgraded version

Agree, I got a 32 inch game 695 and to me it is spot on. Wood quality is awesome, and I think the engraving is better (all personal choice but I am surprised they no longer make it). And the only reason EELL would be you have the money to get it, otherwise its a lot of extra £ for not a great deal more gun.

Mmmmmmmm, as a Beretta fan, I have to say I think it’s a step backwards compared to the Browning Miroku camp. I would buy a MK38 over this gun any day, and I could get one in 32”. It looks cheap and mass produced, I know Miroku are mass produced too, but they look quality with superior wood. I just can’t see Beretta holding market share with this model.

here what i am finding, spend 2500.00 and you get a toy. spend 3500.00 and your gun will be manageable. Spend 5500.00 and you get a good gun that doesn't feel mass produced. Spend 10500.00 and your lucky

Getting rid of the case coloring wasn't the right choice.

686 and the DT-10 DT-11 are there money maker's for Beretta But Browning is built for a life time and a way better gun. With better customer service too Beretta's customer service is rubbish

Interesting information and review but....Don you have a breathing problem? I do find your voice a bit irritating. Sounds like you have a permanent blocked nose or cold? Your reviews are great though 👍
