It is definitely worth trying something I picked up on one of the Bang and Olufsen forums which worked for my white BeoGram 5500. before going down the capacitor route. Just cleaning the CD lens. I took of the unit lid off (loosen and retighten 2 screws at the back and slide the lid off away from you - instructions should also be on the underside of the unit). You will then see the very small CD lens. Just clean this with some rubbing alcohol (also known as isopropanol), I dip a cotton bud into it and clean, you don't need much on the bud at all. I went down the route of buying the replacement capacitors only to find I didn't need them. At least have them if they are ever needed and it does seem to be a common issue.

It’s an easy fix. The capacitor marked C2103 needs to be changed to a blue Philips capacitor. Be careful when soldering as the board can’t take too high degrees. It’s the same problem with CD 7000/6500.

C2103 is a known issue. Trust me on this one.

Try putting the CD in printed side down. You are putting it in the wrong way up.

@@marcwanek9059 Maybe I got the wrong side, but what I meant was this unit is different to most other players, and the CD needs to be the other way up than most other players.
