I think IMSA/Le Mans racing is so horribly underrated, the drivers are humble and the engineers are the best. F1 is corrupt and will never recover from the horrid engine restrictions, INDY CAR will never get past the crap drivers that cant race around other cars, and NASCAR is controlled by sponsors. IMSA is getting more popular with more car manufacturers investing cars in the sport. The best looking cars have come from Le Mans/ IMSA.

+Benjamin Kuhl: You should have been around in the 80's and 90's it was a hell of an era to see them in person. Sad part is that very few people came to enjoy them here in the states. Great era though wonderful cars and memories.

Agreed. Now we have ford entering and basically reviving the ford GT for racing and the GTD class being modified to match world GT3 parameters. BMW is entering its new car, the bently and Lamborghini huracan were tested at Daytona. But yeah my dad worked on the Nissan program back when they pretty much owned the 1989-90 season. Cars were made to go stupid fast for a single race then be rebuilt haha.

And now Le Mans is getting ruined, as after 2020, LMP1 will be replaced by the Hypercar class. There really is no motorsport worth watching anymore.

That's probably the most beautiful thing ever to have gone around Le Mans.

I think I'm starting to prefer the simpler look of the EXP Speed 8 compared to the car they eventually won with in 2003.

I would eat my own hand to get a ride in a Mazda 787B Le Mans car :D Ive seen many Le Mans cars, but never been in one :)

That’s the Bentley EXP Speed 8 LM GTP raced in 2001 and 2002. The 2003 Bentley Speed 8 is an evolution of the EXP model, it’s the design that won Le Mans in 2003.

I'm watching this while there's a repeat of when they took that Continental Speed around the Rally Stage on Top Gear and man what an engine noise! I warmed up to this thing thanks to Gran Turismo 4, although that wasn't the same model as this one...

No, the Forza version is the Le Mans winning 2003 version (the most recent). The car in this video is actually the Bentley EXP speed 8, which ran in 2001 and 2002.

I assume you mean R18? seeing as R8 is the road car. Also this car was made by Audi engineers and was driven by audi drivers. they just got green suits with the bentley logo instead of the classic audi colors and the iconic four rings.

no, he means the R8. the Audi R8 was the legendary LMP that Audi used in the early 2000's before the Audi R10...it was this Bentley's main competition. the road car was named after it.

Ian looks positively TERRIFIED throughout the drive, until it is time to get out of the car when he finally allows himself to feel the joy of it all. Can't say I'd be any more relaxed though.

Without a frame of reference it's easy to think these machines are larger than they actually are. The regulations require them to have the capacity for a passenger but not that they have to be comfortable : )
