I thought I was going to be disappointed by the Samsung that is half the price of the BenQ, but it may be the winner, even aside from the price.

I use the Viewfinity S8 with my MAC Studio M2. Each time I turn it on I am reminded why I should not have bought the S8. Every time I turn the computer on, a thunderbolt message comes on and stays on at the top left. Then there is a SAMSUNG S8 features message that comes on at center bottom of the screen. The only way I have found to remove those messages is to turn the monitor off and on. Do you know of any other way to remove those messages or prevent them from showing up. I cannot log on to the computer because the message is in the way, and the thunderbolt message prevents me from using the top menu. Any advice?

Hi. I purchased the Samsung. I have had multiple issues using its Thunderbolt ports. It is only sporadically recognized with the Mac Mini M2 or any thunderbolt SSD's. I've had to unplug the power for it to work. I'll likely be returning it. Love the colors/features...but the only way it works is through HDMI. When using the HDMI port, the Thunderbolt ports are also not recognized by my Mac Mini. On again with Samsung tech support. I may have to return this and look at the BenQ. Any thoughts?

Strange. I only used it myself for a few days, but tested unplugging and re-plugging it a number of times. I also tested going direct and through the other monitor. Are you using the cable that came with it? Have you tried another cable? I don’t believe thunderbolt has a way to carry through the hdmi. I tested with m2 max MacBook Pro as well as a Surface Pro, never tried macmini, but don’t see why it wouldn’t work.

Form reading point of view, which one do u find have more sharp text? Samsung or BenQ

I felt they were both pretty similar in terms of the matte finish. If you really want sharp text and max resolution, you just can’t beat a glossy finish (neither of these have). I had to switch to the apple studio display for myself, but others have been happy with the Samsung.

The reviews on Samsung page and others box stores only rate it between 3-3.7 stars with several major issues. Curious why you covered the BenQ name up with tape on the back of the monitor? BenQ had a 4.4 star rating, so I would think it would be be the better choice. With a 3 year warranty vs 1 year.

I think that is a plastic protection on the BenQ name plate. Nothing I added, I just hadn't removed it. Based on feedback I'm seeing, the BenQ may be the better choice. The Samsung seems to be problematic.

"I’ve got s80pb 32 inch S8 Samsung. Had to return it twice because of the high pitch noise when hdr and local dimming is enabled. The noise gets worse when you run a local dimming test of KZread. At first I thought it might be just my monitor but when I got a replacement it had exactly the same issue. Looks like a model wide issue. I suggest you either test it before buying or stick with some other brands" Do you have the issue with local dimming of S8 Samsung?

I'm not personally using the Samsung. I personally use the Apple Studio Display. I haven't had any complaints about dimming, but am starting to get lots of frustrations from my wife who is trying to use a pair of them and running into intermittent issues where the monitors won't turn on or turn off temporarily.

Do u have any idea regarding the number of dimming zones on the 32 inch monitor. I'm actually getting a good deal on the monitor here in India.

I didn't time this. I did unplug and test a few different connections and never felt it took very long. I ended up going with the Apple Studio Display for my own use, so I don't have either of these handy, but I will likely have an opportunity to test again soon.

I had a chance to time it with a clients workstation. It's about 5 seconds per monitor with them daisy chained. It was about 10 seconds before they were both up fully. Here's the raw video of testing: kzread.info/dash/bejne/e4CMw7apiKW4Ys4.html

I couldn’t stand the matte finish and had to go get apple studio displays. It’s fine for most people, but if you’re coming from an iMac with the glossy screen and running max resolution, text just doesn’t look clear on a matte screen.

I felt like it was good. In fact, the BenQ had some weirdness around the edges that made it look like it wasn't fully assembled properly. Everyone in my office thought the Samsung was the clear winner, price aside.

@@TheAgam96 I see it now in the video and can't unsee it! In the few days I used them I can't say I noticed, which is hard to believe. I wouldn't normally run two different monitors side by side, so the idea for me was more around which one I'd like better and what's better to tell my clients about. Samsung lists dimensions as (HxWxD) 14.5 x 24.2 x 1.7 (inches) BenQ lists: 14.2 x 24.2 x 3.2 So if anything the Samsung should be bigger (taller), while the BenQ is definitely deeper. I think in the video it must be the angle, like the Samsung is behind the BenQ. You can see the placement at 2:30. I don't have the BenQ to do another visible comparison with unfortunately.
