ABOUT CHICAGO FIRE
"Chicago Fire" - an edge-of-your-seat view into the lives of everyday heroes committed to one of America's noblest professions. The firefighters, rescue squad and paramedics of Chicago Firehouse 51 risk their lives week in and week out to save and protect the citizens of their incredible city. With big reputations and hefty egos, the pressure to perform and the adrenaline rush of the job is bound to have an effect on these modern heroes. Friendship, rivalry, marriage, divorce, fighting, hidden romance -- sometimes it's hard to keep it totally professional. When it's "go-time," though, they put their differences aside and put everything on the line for each other.

My father was a marine, and his dad was a tough love man like Benny. My father wasn’t an emotional man, but I watched this episode with him by chance, and he teared up during this part and I realized it was because it reminded him of his fathers death. I didn’t realize how much until I overheard him listening to this part time and time again later that night. My dad was diagnosed with and passed of cancer shortly after. I remember sending this clip to him in the hospital and said ‘I know this reminds you of your dad, but it won’t have to remind me of you, not for a long time.’ Watching this again now is tough. I miss him

I agree, the Chicago Fire Department has an amazing bagpipe and drum band that plays at the memorial services of firefighters. It is a tradition going back many years, when a majority of firefighters in the department were Irish and Scottish immigrants. Im in UK and my dad was a retired fire fighter. His watch all turned out for his funeral. Seeing this brings back so many memories of my dads funeral. Im no longer in contact with his watch, but wherever i am in the world, whether its UK, NY, Chicago, Paris, Madrid, i always take my time to donate to Firefighter Charities as being a firefighter is a worldwide Brotherhood. Though we all have different colour skin, different language, firefighters worldwide are all brothers and sisters and i have many happy memories of spending time down the fire house which will remain forever.

These moments in Chicago Fire are so powerful and excellently choreographed. Together with the inspiring but melancholic score in the background, you can't help but get a lump in your throat. When a show does that, you know it's of high quality.

This is one of the best shows on TV. I look forward to every Tuesday because ION TV runs a marathon of this show all day long until 3am the next morning. They have some really great writers. I never miss it on Wednesday nights either. The cast is superb and enhance each other. My favorite is Boden. 🙂
