What do you mean you just buy the right screwdriver for it, get a soldering iron, solder and flux and buy the parts you want to mod ur console with and follow the instructions.

I am the owner of this now. The guy I bought it from sent me this link. Still works great

this actually looks pretty nice, like a decent backlit GBP screen. after doing an IPS-mod to my pocket a few days ago i'm looking at getting a DMG to mod as the GBP can't handle the IPS + flashcard too well. so i was thinking about an IPS-DMG for that. now that i saw this video i might reconsider and go for the BennVenn lcd for a slightly more authentic feel.

esotericsean nope, just the IPS panel for now. I get about 2.5 hours on fully charged 900mah eneloops and an original cardridge. Good thing is that i own a lot of my favorite games so it’s not a huge problem. I have been thinking of getting a DMG for a while and this is the perfect excuse ( i own every other gameboy model but never really botherd with a dmg as the pocket is still my favorite console)

@@Flake1988 did you try adding a doubling capacitor or a voltage regulator? Those might add a solid hr. But honestly if you're gonna even backlight a pocket you should probably do a lipo mod

Great job. I would prefer some kind of brightness setting though. Maybe a mod to wire in a potentiometer to the backlight? Or use the DMG's contrast knob for brightness.

Hi this is completely unrelated but how can I fix a horizontal line that resulted after a bivert mod? It goes away after like 5 min of gameplay but it's always there on startup and sometimes it flickers

hi sean I fixed my gameboy !!!! no more annoying line, all i did was heat it with a hair dryer and press a spoon to the ribbon for like 4 seconds. another thing: so i wanted to change the color of the power led in my gbc but its now super dim, i heard i need to bypass a diode?? to make it brighter but i cant find any info online and i am not that confident with my multimeter, (traumatized cuz i fryed a 3ds before) could you please make a video on how to swap the gameboy color led and do a diode bypass please :)

Not a fan of the clear shell because of that back light that leaks out.

Awesome video, but the product having ‘extra screen’ real estate under the shell bothers me, as it’ll be consuming more battery life 🤓

Why do you dunk your irons tip into flux?

Just to clean the tip a bit and get a bit of flux on it so solder flows on it more easily. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wizzy Wambo Well, to each their own. I personally don’t mind it because it’s obviously a modified Game Boy and I know how much work Ben puts into his work.

I really want to see a similar solution for the Game Boy Pocket. The screens of the ones I own are sooooo easy to lose pixels.

There’s the new IPS and drop-in kits for Pocket. And BennVenn’s new AIOLI board will support Pocket too. But they aren’t like these old style backlit screens.

Cool video Sean. However, I don't think the screen works with the overlap of the clear shell.. I think it would work better with a solid colour shell and also a bracket for the screen. Nevertheless, I always learn something from watching your channel. Thank you.
