gonna save you a ton of time right now if you have an iPad with procreate. you're just going to need a freeze frame of the tattoo, so export a still of your freeze frame, airdrop it to your iPad, and open the image in procreate. lock the still layer, and take your pen tool and a technical pen, studio pen, etc, and trace the outlines on a new layer. airdrop it back to your mac from procreate as a png, and drop that reference layer in your freeze frame comp. use that for your auto trace and use the rest of the steps with tracking it to your footage.

if you mean the effects control window, it's next to the project window. All the individual effects you need to add by searching for them in the help menu and dragging them onto the layer.

You can go to window tab next to effect tab and there you will the effect control option in the drop down just enable it by clicking on it

I am wondering why you didnt use workspace for the autotrace. Wouldnt it have just tracked the entire movement?

Yes good question. It could have been an option for other clips but the original media was 4k and the tattoo is detailed so it would take way too long and be too taxing to pursue. I found it quicker to freeze frame and autotrace frame.
