Benjamin List: "Trust your own intuition and ideas." Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2021
Benjamin List, Nobel Prize laureate in chemistry 2021, was joined by 10 students from all over the world and from different disciplines within science for a conversation on the topic of being a scientist. Professor List gave his best advice for maintaining a science career, spoke about green chemistry and shared his definition of happiness.
The conversation was organised by Nobel Prize Outreach, one of the public outreach arms of the Nobel Foundation, and supported by Nobel International Partners, 3M, ABB, Capgemini, EQT, H2 Green Steel and Scania.
The conversation was moderated by Carin Klaesson (Curator, Nobel Prize Museum).

I have come across people quoting a) 10000 hours (Bruce Lee), or b) 10000 errors (Edison's light bulb), or c) 10 years (Einstein's General Theory of Relativity), or d) 10000 days at the most as necessary and sufficient time to be invested in an area of expertise to come up with any groundbreaking thing.

Such an interesting and inspiring conversation! Prof. List is an excellent interviewee and an encouraging advocate for pursuing pure science. Was thrilled to hear his final challenge wrt CO2. We need to find a way to replicate the natural process of photosynthesis. It would, in fact, solve the climate crisis. He has thrown down the guantlet to some of our brightest minds! Who will take it up?!?!!
