I stayed in the Calypso hotel in1981 I think. Good memories of a childhood holiday with my parents. Time flies !

I stayed in the calypso in 1982 as a nipper, my first holiday in Spain. I would play the arcade machines somewhere near the bar, I think it was "Gunsmoke" or "Green Beret" video games. I do have pictures of the hotel and of the holiday, we were facing the pool on the 4th floor. Got back to London and wanted to go back on holiday again. Good memories.

My inlaws loved Benidorm. Very useful for people who are not familiar with this holiday spot.

Stayed in both Calypso and Nereo, now we only stay in the Nereo we find it far more comfortable. The menu is exactly the same in both hotels on a daily basis, know this for certain when friends stayed in Calypso and us in Nereo. The vast array of desserts/cakes being shown in Calypso would be the same in Nereo when this would be a speciality of the night. The size of the Nereo is lovely not too big and barracks like and the pool area with the top deck is great not to mention the heated pool - well it takes the chill off we were swimming November/December

Calypso lovely hotel, stayed last year, but on 3 occasions we had towels and child's inflatables stolen, as for Nereo hotel that's our preference, we love it there, and staff always remember our Granddaughter Nevada, and pool is heated.

The Calypso is a 3 Star Superior Hotel, thats what the S stands for above the entrance. So it's between a 3 and 4 Star Hotel. Probably why its called a 3.5 Star Hotel.

Thanks for the video, the hotel looks ok good price, especially as two people could have stayed i your room, the bathroom looked A squeeze, because of the design to the hotel,being a triangle. You do great videos, with excellent detail, love the steel band music,reminds of the carribean when i was there, love it so relaxing 😊

Hello Paul here we go again. So i have had to watch this again so as to get a better take on your experiences. I think the starring rate is debatable, but never the less, i thought your room was okay based on your cost of the room. Downstairs i thought the dining area was nice and the food once again was prepared and presented very nicely. All in all Paul a nice hotel.

We always stay in the calypso my wife gets a mobility scooter out used to be able to park and charge it in a room to the right of main entrance but they stopped it year's ago

As I said in your previous video not much difference, you forgot to mention the Calypso pool is not a heated pool trivial but true, great video 👍

No you can use easyhire to charge just passed flash hotel.reason wheelchairs cannot park there is because the glass panels kept getting smashed WiFi is fine but if you are in the steps outside it does not work

How busy is hotel ?

There is a mobility scooter hire with charging at the other side of the flash hotel. All services group hotels don't allow scooter hire.

I think the half star is given regarding the facilities/ amenities that a hotel has. Not quite good enough for 4* but better than a 3. Reminds me of a hotel I stayed at in Lido de Jesolo in Italy in 1983, hotel Frank, now there’s somewhere you could maybe try! 😊

Hiya Paul, I've never stayed at Calypso, but been visiting Benidorm since 2011 and it always catches my eye when walking past, especially at night with the colours changing on the balconies. Been into the Terrace for a few drinks and watched Showaddywaddy Gold hehe. I have however stayed twice next door at The Flash Hotel. Really lovely hotel, room, reception, pool area all good. Terrace bar very lively too.

Hi Paul, Shame you cannot bring your mobility scooter or chair in the hotel. Couldn't go without my chair. The hotel is very clean, had a great selection of food laid out nicely. The hotel was fine, but not for me. Thanks Paul.

Stayed there when the waterfall was there doesn’t seemed to have changed much apart from the blue balconies

Nereo is a lot more to stay there heated outside pool.and more inter changeable rooms for family's

HI PAUL what a different hotel to NEREO was lovely it should be a four star hotel the room was nice and clean tidy all the bathrooms looked the same but CALYPSO look 100 times better than NEREO HOTEL it seems to be a good area and better atmosphere it nice to see the staff JOING in the fun the food was a lot better than NEREO HOTEL the evening meal was well set out the breakfast was excellent CALYPSO HOTEL is good hotel with everything on the door step and seems very popular thanks PAUL FROM KEITH

Hi Just watched the vid on the Brisa Hotel, def not a 4 star, clean but small!! Could you try the Marconi, in the old town ? Family run, stayed there last year, kitchen and plates cutlery were filthy!! Loads of complaints it’s supposed to have been cleaned up, fabulous roof top, big rooms just cleanliness of the food area let it down, oh and no fridge in the standard room Cheers keep up your vids might run into you next March 😊😊 Susie

Why do they have the PowerPoints on the left and right instead of the middle ? If you plug your phone into charger at night were do you put your phone

Makes sense all the same bathroom ect but in bulk and get discounts

I love watching your reviews Paul but this one - and the one for the Nereo - made me feel a bit sad. The Calypso has 100 more rooms so makes it a much larger hotel with more guests, and this may have led to a bigger audience/more atmosphere during the evening show. For the same amount of money you got a much bigger room at the Nereo, better amenities within the room itself plus a bigger balcony. Perhaps not much of a dealbreaker when you're travelling solo, but certainly a consideration if there's two of you. The all year round heated pool at the Nereo is a big plus for out of season visitors and the pool area looked great, and would have been less crowded (than the Calypso) in high season. The impression I got was that your stay at the Nereo was spoiled by the noise from the tree felling (not the fault of the hotel), and the evening entertainment which wasn't to your taste. The food buffet looked pretty much identical in both hotels, so perhaps if the roast beef dinner option had been on offer during your stay at the Nereo, you might have warmed to it a bit more.

Hi Amanda how I felt about the Nereo had nothing to do with the tree felling, As you know I visit 100's of hotels but there was just something about this one, not sure what it was but it wasn't for me, this is just my personal view, I dare say 1000's of people will disagree, take care

Just got back from Benidorm, we stayed at the Rio Park. Food was awful never again !!! 😮

Prince park hotel is far nicer 3star but way better

Although you didnt show the check in the Hotel Reception are not the Friendliest, Manageress has a chip on her Shoulder certainly in my Stay, Dissapointing no Tea Coffee facilities in Room, and Tea and Coffee are only served at Breakfast Time and not at any other time at Meals, Charging not beeen Allowed for Mobility Scooter is a Disgrace in my Opinion. The food choice in my opinion comes Down to the Head Chef and nobody else there call what is offered on menu.

I’ll be honest the food didn’t look great the decor in the rooms and the bar area was horrendous again the entertainment sounded awful the pool area was okay but just okay the best looking bit was reception wouldn’t be for me I’ll be honest not good at all imo.

Luxury has to be the 5 star Villa Venezia it's a small hotel but you are looked after but on the cheaper side I loved the port benidorm
