I think the media needs to start talking the real truth rather than speaking about nuances and legalities.Keep watching- the same mall will reopen again without any changes anywhere after few weeks after few tea coffee expenses are exchanged in background.

In a city like Bengaluru which is not at all pedestrian friendly, this man’s contrary view of deliberately not having enough parking is also highly impractical. First provide the public transport and accessibility and then encourage people to use them. Until then, I am not letting go of my personal vehicle.

As a business this might a huge blow to builders and business developers. It's not just fault of one side.

if they are doing this for good business- they should have thought about sparing some more land for parking as well as creating a seamless entry/exit path for vehicles.

​@@ArunKumar-iv4siI have been there. There is more than enough place for parking. They have 2 floors for parking where both 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers can be parked. I feel for 4 floors of mall, 2 floors of parking is ample. First people park outside as they do not want to pay for parking. secondly the question here is the traffic cause by incoming vehicles whether they are parked outside or inside. A mall cannot be held responsible for being full as half of Bangalore decided to visit it on same day. They responsibly denied entry when parking was full. One measure they can do safe side is launch an app for parking space availability and advance booking for parking spots. But still that is not their responsibility. Ethically they can do. But we must not escape the real question, why Traffic department should not be consulted before giving permission to such huge projects. It is not a law currently so Govt did nothing illegal. but on ethical ground they should have.

@@SaurabhGayali Still not enough 2 floors. As per rule you need 500sqft parking per every 2000-3000sqft constructed. 2 floors is not enough for the total sqft size constructed.

Same problem is there in Prestige Forum Mall on Kanakapura Road, our main roads are already streched thin and it cannot support such new massive dwellings. The Forum mall would have been shut if there was an airport on Kanakapura Road. But I am happy these massive structures are coming up though, we only get to work and look for solution when there is a forcing function..

main difference with Forum Mall is that it had full functional metro at the time of inauguration which is not the case with Mall of Asia

As citizens of Bangalore we have the choice to call the shots. Kindly refrain from visiting this mall and there by force this mall to pack their bags and vacate.

Even builders should have thought about it as they know these government agencies are inefficient.

We have similar issues in every city . Civic bodies are sold out . In Hyderabad also like latest Lullu mall which created lot of nuisance on traffic front and Sarath mall which is next major circle creates lot off issues

If Traffic congestion, disturbing tranquility is a condition for closing any malls, then all malls in the city should be permanently closed!

This shows BBMP corruption, and current govt is giving trouble to most of commercial property in city. One or other way agency has issued notice. This reality on grounds., there hug corruption in BBMP , govt has to take steps stop this especially outsider's facing all trouble.

Atleast bangalore is discussing the issues. In Pune we have a similar situation with the Pheonix mall of the Millenium. The service road on which the mall is situated near Hinjewadi is overwhelmed and the highway NH4A gets hour long traffic jams. Weekends and public holidays are especially bad.

Adding more departments to the list of clearances only adds to the corruption. The retail corruption in these agencies particularly after the recent changes in gove have gone up exponentially. Permissions are all about paying bribes

Bangalore City is known for mismanagement and too much focus on trivial issues. They are here for vote bank politics

Finally it is muscle, money and political power that rules everyone else. The builders and developers are quite powerful and are easily getting away from this. We - common citizens will make this our new norm and get 'adjusted' over time. In fact the police were very efficient and quick to respond to our compliants and took several actions to ease the situation. However, It is evident that even they can try till a certain extent only. The moment the mall authorities got a court ordering -the police had to step back! Now - it is a wait and watch for the residents including me -who are the most impacted due to this. now people might comment 'Did you not know that there's a mall coming up before investing? dont complain now' - We were surely aware - but little did we imagine that the design would be this pathetic. The builders would have thought of every square inch of land while deciding on the number of parking slots as well as the entry/exit plan to the mall. I have no hopes on whether they would do anything to ease this. They will wash their hands off (within their legal boundary of course!)

Man why are you overreacting? Initial excitement will be there, it will subside after few days. Anyway there is a entry fee too. Take a chill pill. Same was said of free bus rides for women too - now no problem is observed. This is India, no amount of facilities can work for the huge population flawlessly. Slowly things will be fine

Something similar is looming on ECR Chennai. A large mall is slated to come up at the old Prarthana Drive-in theatre complex, Injambakkam.

Almost the same happened in Hyderabad with the Lulu mall recently.

@vijaysrini27 yes in fact the entry fee must be higher to discourage repeated visitors that come just to gawk at others. Shoppers won't mind paying because they shop a few times a year. People pay to visit mysore palace, zoo, krs etc - why not the mall? In india, this is a must due to our population and jobless people

If they want this mall to be shut why do they even wait till they complete the construction just waste of money

Why the state allow the construction of such malls? Isn't it the govt job to check for feasibility analysis before giving permission? This approach will drive investors away,as they put huge investment; only to be banned/closed by govt later.

It’s BBMP’s job. They are busy collecting bribe. Complaining to them without bribe will no effective. Online complaints will be closed in a month without a word.

No one is talking of 1. Emergency services access, and how they will reach the location in case of an emergency like medical emergency or fire. 2. The huge investments that was made by the poromoter and the stores that are in the mall 3. The huge employment opportunity the mall offers. 4. Where were all these people when the mall being constructed

You got it all wrong, it was the 'coordination' between the agencies,which got all the necessary permission. In the local language it's called mamool !

Yes traffic dept should have alredy raised this as issue and stopped during construction but even before that BBMP should have not have given approval to build this on service roads.

BBMP "BRUHAT BLUNDER MAHA... PALIKE" at it again, there should be a case study on BBMP on how not to govern....

IMHO while the BBMP coordinating with Traffic police is a must, in this case what stopped the traffic police to anticipate this problem & intervene during construction. Why act only after the problem has occurred. This notice should have come 2 years ago and a flyover for entry & exit should have been insisted by police.

The mall was planned with the idea that Metro line would be ready by Dec 2023. Private investors invested millions and now the business has to shut down because Government did not complete Metro on time! This is not the way to encourage investments in the city.

Solution is new roads or bridges in that area

There seems to be more to the latest developments around this mall. It seems like a fallout of various powerful people and their interests. Else, why did the lingo activists choose this mall for vandalism. Now the civic authorities locking it up citing traffic. When prominent politicians are mall owners themselves, why will they tolerate competition from a mumbai based company?

When India is dreaming of 5Trillion economy by 2030, then for sure this kind of govt. machineries first need to introspect about their roles and responsibilities to speed of the quality of their work culture, otherwise till next 500 years also India will not reach anywhere, the most unfortunate part of Indian Government departmental functions,

This is a mall which has worst planning. The parking facility is pathetic and the roads towards airport gets clogged. If you need to travel towards hebbala and you take the narrow lane. Only god can help you. They should have constructed a parallel road or something like that.

City police is not able to control traffic on service road & blaming mall is not correct. Service road should have lane discipline and no unwanted parking which is getting ignored by police

Bangalore has become a shithole because of BBMP’s corruption. It has turned complete blind eye to traffic before giving construction & occupancy certificates to commercial establishments. ORR is already clogged due to traffic but we see even more IT Parks being constructed. Where are those people going to go? No one is answerable. Whenever questions are asked, they start fueling the Kannada language card & put people against Hindi or English. Diverting the issue

Businesses flourish only in disciplined democracies.
