Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (also known as Bangabandhu, which means "Friend of Bengal") was a Bangladeshi politician and statesman who played a critical role in the country's independence movement and served as its first president from 1971 until his assassination in 1975.

After the war, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman returned to Bangladesh as a national hero and became the country's first president. He worked tirelessly to rebuild the nation and establish a new democratic government, but his efforts were cut short by his assassination on August 15, 1975.
