BENETEAU Grand Trawler 62 Review: The Perfect Yacht for all your Unforgettable Voyages

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

EXTENSIVE ENGINEERING WORK
The hull design of the Grand Trawler 62 required more than 300 hours for the fluid dynamic calculations and tank testing. The data Micad collated set out the optimum vertical center of gravity (VCG) and longitudinal center of gravity (LCG) targets required to achieve the best economy, performance and seakeeping from the hull.
The Grand Trawler 62 is a pioneer and exudes such virtues upon its guests on board with an exceptional range of 900 nautical miles at 9 knots. The benefit of slowing pace is the opportunity to be truly aware of your surroundings and to really see what is out there. This autonomy is achieved through the technical choices developed by BENETEAU’s engineering team and its Italian partners, naval architect MICAD and Nauta Design. Responsible, safe and comfortable, this next-generation yacht allows you to navigate in a different way. While the other Swift Trawler models feature semi-planing hulls, BENETEAU's largest trawler has a full displacement hull. A great first!

-- About BENETEAU --
The first BENETEAU boats sailed from the shipyards of Croix-de-Vie over 135 years ago. Since that time, the BENETEAU brand has been synonymous with quality and innovation to all those who have taken to the water - first by the fishermen who made their livelihood from the sea and then by the legions of recreational boaters around the globe.
Over the years, our commitment to innovating and embracing ideas, no matter how unconventional, has been at the forefront of who we are in order to bring you the best boat possible. BENETEAU was one of the first boatbuilders many years ago to use computer-aided design (CAD) as well as lighter, stronger composite building materials. We’ve also been at the cutting edge of using greener materials and processes to do our part in protecting the incredible world which we explore. However, all this innovation doesn’t mean we’ve turned our back on tradition. One thing we’ve discovered in over a century of boatbuilding is that new-world innovations work best with old-school craftsmanship. This combination has resulted in some of the most iconic sailboats and powerboats in the world - supremely seaworthy yachts renowned for their sense of style, luxury, and comfort along with their creative use of space and new technologies.
-- Philosophy --
We’re a lot like you. We love the water in all its forms - the ocean, bays, lakes, and rivers. And we love sharing the boating lifestyle with our family and friends. This love manifests itself in every BENETEAU built in any one of our many manufacturing facilities worldwide. Every BENETEAU sailboat and powerboat on the water reflects the best efforts of the finest architects, designers, and craftsmen along with the highest quality materials and the latest innovations.
When you purchase a BENETEAU, you become a valued member of our BENETEAU family. For this reason, our after-sale service is second to none as evidenced by the multitude of National Marine Manufacturers CSI Awards for Excellence in Customer Service. At the core of this outstanding service is our exceptional dealer network. Every one of our authorized BENETEAU dealers will be there for you - from choosing the right yacht to the handover and beyond. Your dealer will be your able guide when it comes to maintaining your boat properly and will help you maximize the return on your investment when it comes time to step up to another BENETEAU - and it usually does! We wouldn’t have it any other way.

For a 62ft yacht with only 900 NM and even more importantly, only CE Category B? I don't believe this counts as a trawler, this is more of a day cruiser. How is 900NM from 3600L "exceptional?" That's worse economy than a 70ft full displacement hull doing the same speed?! 4L per NM!!! Sturier DME 6, Sirena 64, Azimut Magellano 66, Altena, Steeler and almost every other manufacturer of trawler yachts feature CE Category A, and 1,200~3000+ NM from the same size with similar interiors and price. Why does Beneteau consider these two crucial specifications unimportant, let alone the fact it doesn't even have a watermaker as standard?!

@MrAbletospeak For sure, there are so many more practical options on the market even within the same size category and price. Upgrading the 50 to CE-A and adding some extra range maybe by stretching it a few feet would make it an almost unbeatable trawler for the price.

@@guenthermichaels5303 it's not "half the price" of any of the vessels I mentioned. It's notably less money than some, but it's the exact same price as the Sturier DME6 which has every single one of the features I listed and is better in every metric except top speed. Calling it a "Grand Trawler" is like calling a VW Passat a Hypercar. It has essentially none of the equipment that makes a trawler yacht a trawler yacht, and to top it off it underperforms in any of the categories that a trawler yacht should excel in. If you want a vessel to do 900NM at most with such abysmal fuel consumption then go ahead, there are very many better options on the market that AREN'T trying to masquerade as trawlers, that will do all that and faster too. The Absolute Navetta 58 outclasses the Grand Trawler in speed, range, fuel economy and capability for a fraction more money. If it suits your needs then I'm very happy for you but I very much doubt anyone spending this money wouldn't consider the competition and subsequently question why this falls behind them all within that price bracket and guzzles fuel whilst the competition sips it. The 50/52 Swift was an excellent offering within its class and many of us expected the 62 to be a proper upgrade for those of us who wanted to venture further offshore - this has been a thorough disappointment.

@@karlfriedrich7758 It's a cheap boat. Don't buy it. It's good value for the money. Trawlers don't plane. I own an Elling e6. Great range, great seaworthiness. Exterior lounging, living space for tropical climates is seriously lacking. But for range, safety, I would not trade it. I can run it, and dock it all by myself. Cheers from Canada

I would need to see better figures than sales rep fuzz and tbh that puts it in the same pot as Flemings and their range is nothing to brag about even if they are great sea boats. b. Come back with less of the frilly bits and more substance in the 8kts/4000k range. c. Docksense. Snowflake boating, I guess sticking your chops out of the window does not quite fit does it?.

Boat's also don't have "closets", they have "hanging lockers". "Beaminess" is not a word. Also out of all the systems to focus on, the entire last half of the video is focused on battery switches and generator exhaust? Beneteau please hire a presenter that has been on a boat before making this video. His lack of knowledge is insulting.
