I own this bike (Green). Owned it from October last year and seriously love it. Yep, it's heavy to push around but the moment you touch 3 mph+, the weight disappears. I know this, cos every week I have to filter through some traffic at crawling speed. This bike is a machine for open roads and it is not slow, it handles better than the MT07, better in slow moving traffic by far, also, but only slightly less punchy. Very throttle friendly, but you will stall it a few times until you get used to it's take off. Lot's of bike for the money and lots of girls notice. One of the best sounding 2wheel Babies you'll hear if you like twins. Very long gearing though. Drop down 1 or 2 teeth on the front sprocket this thing will have insane torque.

I like your point about design decisions with the weight. as a TnT600 owner, it's sad to see benelli not even try to be sporty anymore, especially when they use the 302s motor in the 302r. I'd kill just to see one new Benelli with a weight under 180kg and power to boot... hoping the new 899 brings benelli back to the performance segment.

The cheapest way to 'fine tune' a bike's behaviour is sprockets.. change them on this very bike and you might get a 'happier' more 'alert' bike.. I'd try it on this puppy

@@customgadget3385 1 thing 4 sure: it gets *really* interesting when you try different ratios! (even just changing 1 tooth up and\or down in the drive sprocket alone) -just make sure you 'mate' a reciprocating rear sprocket to any different drive sprocket to match the wear pattern.. you don't wanna change any of them alone while the other is already way beyond broken in and even worn. Chains & sprockets don't 'like' that and might fet even with you.. Therefore also try not to do it on a long used chain and consider changing the chain too on a new set of sprockets.

its good to see that Benelli are utilizing branded and adjustable front forks. And branded brakes. Compared to the MT 07 that has OEM Front forks, and Brakes. the MT-07 albeit no doubt its a good bike. It apparently has a fatal flaw which is basically its OEM front forks being too long and too soft or something. And I believe MT-09 suffers the same but not as bad as the MT 07. I saw some guys even replacing the MT-09s Front forks with WP Forks, same forks used on latest KTM bikes. Pointed out by a video from Dave Moss Tuning : MT-07 Fatal Flaw. With the aim of the MT 07 as it tries to be affordable. They literally ignore the front fork. They just jam in an OEM fork and thats it. Suspension technicians usually only do proper suspension settings for more expensive Superbikes like the R1M and the MT10 SP which comes with the OHLINS EC2 suspension.

Problem with all Benellis; waaaaay too heavy, beautiful from the front, then the designers just give up. A trailing arm? Just weld together a couple of steel bars, that'll do. Oh, and use shitty welds, not neat or stylish. Number plate? Damn it. Got any more of those old steel bars left over.....? Hide the wiring? Got any tape? Shoddy. My Tracer 700 has a wet weight of 196kg. The Tracer version. Not the naked MT07. Where on earth did Benelli hide 30kg extra iron? On a naked roadster?!! And aiming this at the older market? Nope. No thanks. I'm in that market and I didn't hesitate to go Japanese. And I paid less than 7500 euros for my new Tracer because I negotiated. Hard.

They're built for more "rural" roads in their target market, they need to be beefy. A 50 mm fork is pretty crazy too. Most of the tractors available over there are bendy to better take the beating, so if you start targeting a more modern feel (stiffness), it needs to be built to take the punishment it'll dish out _on itself_ as a result. That's where the cost element comes in.

identiticrisis I can understand your point fir the 150cc, 300cc, cheaper bikes for tougher places. But the 600s and 750s are not designed for rural countries. I really think it’s their sloppy engineering or lack of weigh saving as a goal resulted in the heavy weight. Because you simply put in thicker material to compensate for lack of accuracy. I’ve taken apart their TNT 600 before, the design is careless to say the least. Every bit of weight adds up.

@@motojc they absolutely are designed for the eastern markets first and foremost, with the whole intention of _seeming_ otherwise for those markets. The bonus is the level of markup they receive from selling it elsewhere, albeit in much lower volume. The 600 is based on an old Yamaha donk iirc No doubt the slop will be intentional for tolerance to local repair.

Benelli just does not know how to make a light bike. I think that’s because of bad engineering. They have to over do it for reliability.

We used to say the same about the Japanese; now they are the one's to beat. Even Japanese companies source their parts globally, including from China.

@@davidbesant But there is one big difference here. This is a chinese motorcycle hidden behind an Italian badge. Benelli used to mean something, it meant it was built in an italian factory like Moto Guzzi. I don't have a problem with chinese manufacturers, in fact there is one that I'd like to see more of and it's Zongshen, unfortunately it's not well distributed in Europe. Japanese manufacturer had to make a name for themselves at some point in history.

Mojo I put a Zongshen 190cc engine on my grom clone. Thing rips now and it’s a 5 speed and the only 5 speed on the market.

@@ifrit35 Ll , So you won't be buying a Triumph then, because they're built in Thailand and Brazil. Harley build complete bikes in India, as do KTM. BMW buy Chinese engines and use cycle parts and electronics from all over the place. In any case I think @Jerry Kumara just dislikes the Chinese. That's entirely a matter for him.
