Bendpak 10k Lift DIY Wiring Instructions

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video, I walk you through how I wired my Bendpak 10k 2-post lift. I am not an electrician but felt comfortable enough to perform my own work in this instance. This 240v circuit is fed by a 30a GFCI breaker, which feeds a safety shutoff switch near the lift via 10/3 NM-B (all romex will be behind drywall), and then runs to a junction box where it switches to THHN, then to the lift via EMT.
As always I recommend following the manufacturer's installation notes. For those willing and able I made this video to supplement their electrical install instructions which were minimal.
If you can see things done incorrectly let me know! Again I am not an electrician and always looking to improve my skills and safety.

Indeed! They're making outlets now that have the lever-locks built into the back of them. Not sure if Wago is making them or if the tech is just licensed.

Your black to the motor must run through the push button before going to motor? Thanks for the video.

Did you ever put a thermal switch in? If so where did you order from? Thanks.

Apologies for the delay. No I didn't end up doing a thermal switch. From what I've read that's important if the motor is under regular, continuous load to prevent it from overheating. Since the motors on these are used rather infrequently people have concluded a thermal switch really isn't needed. If I can find anything else that says otherwise I'll update you.

What brand and model is the safety thermal switch you purchased? Still going to post that video?

I'll aim to make one in the next day or two. In short, I ended up using a fused Siemens 30-amp fused safety disconnect (LF211N). I used this one because it has a back-panel entry since my wires will be buried in the wall, but any fused 30-amp should do it. And it doesn't necessarily need to be fused, I just went with one for added protection, along with a GFCI breaker. From reading, most people aren't using a thermal switch since this motor is infrequently under load in short bursts rather than continuous usage.

Did you ever get around to installing the thermal overload?

I did not. After reading I found that it's not really needed since these motors are usually only operated for a few seconds at a time rather than continuously being used where it might heat up.
