    I actually got a quick demonstration of that (hydraulic) bending block by Mark when the tour truck was in Gothenburg for the Scandinavian Invitation (European Tour) two years ago. And also learned that the tour players have access to special loft sleeves (which China obviously haven’t been able to copy yet). ;). I wish TM would include the adjustability also to the Max range of fw woods, though I personally can’t complain on the performance of the Ti 3 & 5 woods. It’s the Indian - not the arrow….

    With the TM sleeve, want it you hit it too high and a little to the right. By lowering the loft your opening the face, resulting in more of a cut but lower. Whats the sleeve position for this situation.

    That’d be great if the loft, lie, and face angle where as stated in the specs but alas they’re not. Dirty little not so secret in the industry is that tolerances are pretty large.

    I assume a lot of pros prefer to have the hosel bent as it allows loft/lie/face angle to be dialled in as they like rather than having to stick to whichever trade off the sleeve throws out on the other angles when in a particular setting. Appreciate the insights tho Trottie, even tho as a golfer looking for a fairway wood spec only the bent hosel can provide these particular clips make me quite sad 😂👊👍

    Hey Trottie, great video, can you explain why most players on tour don't use the sleeve and instead choose to still bend hosels to get their desired loft and shaft angle? Old habits? Tradition? More control? Thanks!

    The split between the models (albeit I don't have the last PGA count to hand) is around 50/50 so your perception isn't quite accurate. In addition the SIM2 out of the gate was the lead horse on the tour, so guys do leverage the sleeve opposed to only going for the SIM2MAX & the blocks. I do think though that the 7 wood area has also changed our perception, 7 woods due to modern day balls are popular on Tour & that is only available in the SIM2MAX.

    I know you covered this slightly but I don't know if its the same with bending a wedge. Does adding loft close the clubface slightly? and vice versa. I'm trying to make a 59 degree lob wedge and I'm deciding whether to bend a 58 or a 60. I tend to overdraw my shorter wedges and slice my longer clubs. I'm aware that this will also increase or decrease bounce. I'd rather increase bounce. Thanks

    Hi, why does Taylormade stick to the adapter that turns the shaft when changing loft (and not like Titleist)?

  • @bretthadley3088

    @bretthadley3088

  • @jacobmccain8082

    Wondered this myself. Being able to independently change loft and lie is such an advantage for Titleist and Callaway.

  • @tedyong9085

    @tedyong9085

    3 жыл бұрын

    It's so they can save weight from the adaptor and put it into the clubhead. The Callaway adaptor will weigh more but weight distributed in the clubhead will be more advantageous for the designers. If you measure the driver weight (minus adaptor), Callaways is usually the lightest. As for Titleist, the shaft will still turn if you adjust the lower COG. ie the number cog.

  • @suivzmoi

    @suivzmoi

    it's cheaper to manufacture. plus, do not be mistaken. all adjustable hosel clubs work the same whether it is a one piece (shaft is rotated) or two piece (adapter ring is rotated) shaft adapter. TaylorMade just defined it's "Standard" setting at the flattest lie, so any adjustment will always increase the lie. Ping on the other hand defines it's Standard at the most upright lie, so any adjustment will always decrease lie. Titleist and Callway define theirs in the middle, so it appears they have adjustibility in both directions for both loft and lie but the range will be smaller than the other two brands.
