I hear experience taking in this video and I know exactly why . Been there seen that . Giving important advice to carry-out customers often falls on deaf ears or being ignored totally . More great content , thanks .

Good day Tom. Another reliable & reasonable ($20) option for a tubeline bender is the Lisle 44000.

can you use copper tube instead.. make your own lines? I have the same tube bender . it sucks. only luck i have had bending with it , was putting something flexible that fits inside the tube to keep it from kinking..like a long spring....or even sand..

There are 2 schools of thought on using copper lines. There are those that say they work just fine and others that say they don't. While it is easier to bend, it also breaks easier. They say you cannot double flair copper. I have seen it done and done it myself. Personally, I would not do it from a strength standpoint. Would be OK for a quick fix to get you home but I would not use it as a permanent repair. Never had any problems with my tubing bender. I think possibly you might be bending it too quickly.

Partially rusted steel Chevy line the first 15 inches or so. Could copper tubing be used to replace the rusted part using a coupler to the good steel? This is for a 1990 Astro steel line radiator to the trans. Short term fix. Thanks for the video.

It might work in an emergency. Better fix would be rubber, with a sufficient psi rating. Of course the best is steel. Thanks for watching.

@@CurmudgeonTransmission Thanks for the recommendation I was looking at some Gates hose yesterday at the parts store. I think that it would do it if they have the correct size.

Tom, can I make my own line that connects into my AW4 directly to my radiator? Or do I need a little rubber to account for vibration? Thank you for another great video.

Some vehicles do have a rubber line attached to them for that reason. If it has it, I would put it back. You might have a hard time finding that metal line. It sticks in my mind that it is a metric size. Tried to find the info on it real quick but was unable to. If the rubber needs replacing I would take it to a place that does repairs on hydraulic lines. If you have one. Your second choice would be to cut the line and double flair it. Then use a hose rated for transmission fluid and probably at least 300 psi. Pressure should never get that high but there are instances where it can get up to 200.
