Never had an auto go off in pocket. I did know a guy from work who somehow managed to open a Griptillian in his pocket. It was very sharp and he needed several stitches!

Grabbed my Mediator last year at my LGS. Part serrated, which is useful with engineered intent. Great that this one seems to have captivated you,! 😁⚔️👍

Just got one, after loads of deliberation. Went searching for bias confirmation :) this is my second knife. My first was the 940-1. I love that knife. A lot. Probably my most favorite. Sent it in for a sharpening/tune up. Need a mistress while she's gone. Enter, the Mediator. Shoulda called it The Mistress.

Definitely my next model to pickup from Benchmade. Love the weight and profile/look as well as the ease of carry due to the thin scales.

Love mine. Carry it daily. Haven’t had to sharpen it yet. Nice weight. Very comfortable in pocket.

I got one on release and I carry it almost every day. Spotted it on a blade HQ video and I new I had to have it. I do feel like this knife flew under the radar, maybe because the price. Not really sure but it is a amazing knife

I think people like the long videos without the weird voice that one guy has. Plus MC hasn't banned all Medfords from his channel like that one guy did.

Agree. I bought it and it was way better than I expected. This is a sleeper hit. Benchmade hit a homerun.

To be honest, I've had a Warrior Mini light melt the pocket of a hoodie once. More than a few drinks in one fuzzy evening, I suddenly smelled something burning. Yeah it was my light. There also was a beer-bottle cap in the pocket too that was stuck to the tail switch. I also had it switch on inadvertently while setting it down on the table. This time the end cap passed fairly close to a transformer on a device I was troubleshooting. No issues since I learned to have my pockets empty. It has to be something internal with the tail switch, I've had a S1R for 3 or so years and had no issues.

@@danduane1413 Yeah there's issues with it. Yeah there's also lockout mode. The fact that people don't use it when they know there's issues with the light is just kind of dumb. Hopefully when they revamp the light everything is fixed. Myself, I can't believe they had a sale on a defective light when they should've just taken the loss and scrapped everything that was left. Now if anyone complains that bought one through the sale, olight is just going to tell them.... Hey you got a free obulb already.

@@jbstuff I knew there was a lock-out; but didn't know that there were issues with it inadvertently switching on. Olight will probably add a thermal switch to keep it from getting too hot. I'm sure a revamp is in the works... I know they wanted to retain the magnetic recharger design -- which I do like; but think a Mini/USB-C connector might be better. Maybe they had a sale to get rid of their stock and have a redesign ready to go. Other than that, I do love their products. Don't know where you're at, but a warm hello from Manitoba [aka - The Frozen Planet of Hoth -- think of The Empire Strikes Back]

I have one,it's a very quality peice.Personally I'm not into the blade shape-for MY edc,I prefer a more slicey,more pointy blade.My favorite for this size is the protech newport-very pointy,extremely slicey,and although the blade is only 3 in,your cutting edge is 3 in

I’ve accidentally forgotten to flip the safety switch on my mediator multiple times and never had it flip open in my pocket. You actually have to push the button pretty deep to get it to spring open so that may play a part.

As a spyderco enthusiast I am still drawn to this knife. It hits so many targets 🧨

Would have been even better to my opinion if they'd used CF-Elete scales on it. Have you ever reviewed or handled the Benchmade Contego? I've had one for about 4 years now and I love the thing!

Just nabbed on of these today, and I think they have been discontinued. I’m an old school Benchmade guy, and this one is possibly my favorite of all time.

I don't normally like autos but this I could possibly carry I like how slim it is and that is s90

I've got the mediator, I've opened it purpose in my pocket, against my leg and it's not what you think, in fact it's really nothing at all.. I always hold my hand on the back of the blade, when I push the button and then hold it till about a quarter of the way and it's because it puts less stress and wear on the inife...

If it must have a safety, the one on the 940 auto is super sleek.

That has got to be one of the best lookin knives they’ve made

I still think the original Mini Stryker designed by Elishewitz was their best looking knife...but this one IS very nice too!

Putting a website URL on your knife is all fun and games...until you lose the web domain or someone points it to an adult site. Who does that anyway? 🤣 I sorta wanted one when they came out, but then remembered: I don't like autos. You were sounding better when you recorded this. Keep that up and stay well!

I’ll be that guy... with a caveat. I had my 9400 go off in my pocket and I cut my finger reaching in there. HOWEVER! It wasn’t clipped in my pocket but rattling around in the bottom of my pocket with some other items. Soooo... probably mostly my fault. 🤷‍♂️

I am going to buy this eventually but chose the 4300-1 CLA instead. This is a bad@ss knife and I must have one. 😎

Tell benchmade to make one of these with a flipper tab and button lock

Never had that happen.

The safety is not just to orevent it from opening while in your pocket, it’s to prevent it from opening if and when you drop it. That is bad news from a tactical perspective.

Lol. C'mon man. That's marketing. 99.99% of the people who buy "black class" knives are not using them for tactical this or that. Can they be used by military/LEO? Sure. And they are in some cases. But mostly they're sold to regular folks like us who open Amazon packages with them. They're not restricted or only sold with proof of "Tactical intentions". You can ironically just order then off of Amazon. Anyone can get them. Not trying to poke fun, but ya, it's just fancy marketing.

Compares it to the Bugout & Bailout but then doesn’t show it compared to the Bugout or the Bailout. 🤦🏼‍♂️ P.S. HEIGHT rhymes with KITE. There is no TH sound at the end of the word. The T should be the last sound heard when the word height is spoken correctly.

Ya thats kind of a personal quirk. I wish I owned a Bugout to compare to at any given moment, but alas, I don't. I've handled and reviewed it though, so I feel comfortable making that comparison.

Problem with this knife (auto) is not side to side play. But up and down play. There must be a slight play. Not as solid as other axis lock or other types. Btw i have this knife. And i probably want to let go bcause of that slight play. I know is minor problem. But i just dont like it. For its price it must be solid as rock.

Overpriced. Should be under $150 instead. Even the 940 is overpriced.
