Have always struggled with sharpening but after watching this video I bought the Worksharp version and had great success. The angle guides are invaluable, and have discovered that the key to consistency is a stiff wrist while moving at the elbow.

I've got one. I'm not an expert but it allows me to easily sharpen every knife I own, even some of the harder steels. I've sharpened a couple of my wife's knifes with it and she's even convinced

It’s a Worksharp product and it’s really good. I chipped my Benchmade Puukko and it put back a better than factory edge

I have had one of these for a while and use it all the time for a quick good edge. A great product. Could be a little larger. Thumb studs on my 940 get in the way a bit.

One thing he didn't mention is the course and fine ceramic plates have a guide that's 20degrees and the ceramic rod and leather strop are set at 25 degrees so if you over do it with the ceramic rod you can actually dull your blade so just keep that in mind

@@chrisguzman7926 yes the diamond plate angle is 20 degrees but the ceramic rod and leather strop are set at 25 degrees I don't understand why they made it like this?

If a Spyderco or Morakniv knife comes out of the factory with ~15 degrees on a side, is it ok to change it to 20 degrees on each side using this field sharpener’s guide?

If they made it with adjustable angles it would be the perfect sharpener. My problem with all the portable sharpeners is they are built with one angle only. And it's not the angle I want on my pocket and outdoor knives. Like "combat" or survival knives that use a middle of the road steel that's easy to sharpen (and easy to dull). I prefer 25 degrees. Less for something like a filet knife, like 17 degrees. 20 degrees is what I use for kitchen knives. But that's just me.

I agree, it would be nice to be able to change angle. I also think, honing your skills is important. Being able to put the desired angle on a knife is what we should be striving for.

I saw that the 940 comes new at 30-35 degrees, so this sharpener will change it to 25 . Being new to sharpening, is that ok ? I really don't want to send it back every time it needs sharpened. I have the worksharp version, and I can get my other knives really sharp. I guess I just assumed that all folding knives were at 25 degrees, since they make their sharpener that way. I guess what I'm asking is if it's ok to sharpen all my folding blades at 25 ?

I use a Lansky consistent angle sharpener for all of my knives, it has channels for 30, 25, 20, and 17 degrees. I highly recommend them if you are getting into some high quality steels. 😊
