The Benchmade 940 Osbonrne Design is a classic AXIS lock EDC folder that has been a staple in the Benchmade line for a long time and now it has been upgraded with an open back construction and G10 handle scales. The 940-2 still features the same reverse Tanto blade shape and CPM S30V blade steel for exceptional cutting performance. The open back construction makes cleaning and maintenance a breeze and green anodized barrel spacers add a pop of color and give a nod to the original 940's brightly colored center liner. A slim, Gentleman's tactical style folder, the 940-2 is sure to be a winner. Check out this great new addition to the Benchmade family, now at GPKnives.com.

Thanks! Appreciate the kind words and support. You keep watching and I'll keep making.
Thats a nice knife.
Like it a lot but not sure about the green spacers.
940-2 or 698 foray? I like them both. Any input on which first? I’m pretty sure I’ll eventually end up with them both. (;

Both great designs but I'd put the 698 ahead in my book. A bit more elegant in design and upgrade in blade material.

GPKNIVES Thanks for the response. I wish BM would make a 940-3 in Cpm-20 besides the 1501
handle texture is it more or less grippy than aluminum,I find the aluminum slippery

The G10 is polished so it is pretty smooth. I find that ergos make more of a difference than handle texture especially on a knife like this (Gentleman's style EDC). If you don't like the aluminum and you're interested in the G10 I would try to get this in-hand before you buy it.

Is the clip black paint or parkarized?

The clip is not painted. It is black oxide/parkerized.
I got a 940-2 today, but the centering is off. Like almost enough to bother me. I have tried loosening and tightening pivot screw and other screws and still won't fix my issue. If anyone has any ideas please help!!!!

Return to Benchmade for warranty.
I got two questions if you will - 1) how sharp do these 940s now come out of the box ? I remember Benchmade used to send rather dull blades, but I think they're resolved that issue. 2) How sturdy is that knife ? I'd like to get one, but it doesn't seem robust at all.

They aren't razor sharp but they'll cleanly slice thin paper. I'd say it is a good working edge on there. I would say it is sturdy for a folding knife but that is a very general question. I'd put it in the same league as the Paramilitary 2. The saber grind is quite robust and the reverse Tanto gives it a great deal of tip strength. For EDC tasks it is more than enough.

Thanks for your response. By slicing thin paper, do you mean like phone book paper ? Also, it's sturdier than I expected since you're putting it in the same league as the Para 2.
