That last video of the year. Just playing at the bench. I thought I would bring you all in to see what's on my mind with this model car kit.

I have one of the originals of this car. Bought it in the 60s. Mine came with the 6 (hmmm...might have been the Chevy II 4 cylinder? - been a while). I put in a small block V8. My plan for it in the mid 60s was Modified Production/Bracket racer as you talk about. Had a short stack fuel injection and slicks as big as I could stuff without cutting the wheel wells. Mocked up. Needed roll bar, cut out front inner fenders, front sub frame bracing like Bill Thomas sold for them, and wheel well headers. Never painted it. Never finished it. Just put it up on the shelf to finish some day. Then in '71 came and earthquake and the hood and injection got smashed. Sat ever since. Then a while back I found someone online who offered a hood for it and bought one. That got me going a little and hunted up a fuel injection and headers. Then the fuel injection was out of production. Decided to hunt through my stash of parts and make headers out of solder. THEN AMT announced they were going to produce this kit. Then I see that it has the abomination of chrome trim on the sides, like that AMT 55 Chevy has. I'm sure there are those who are the chrome it all, white wall tire guys. But most of us who buy kits of 1950s to 1970s American cars want to hotrod them. Just as you say. Its easier for someone to make and sell aftermarket chrome trim for a kit for the few who want it than it is for all of those who don't want it to remove it. And just feature how much $$ it would save the model company to NOT add the chrome. If they REALLY WANT the chrome in the kit, it could be included as an add-on like the chrome trim Revell provided for the Stone, Woods and Cook 41 Willys kit 60 years ago. I approve of and support your rant. PS: There's a guy in my neighborhood who used to race Top Alcohol Funny Cars (and also owned the ex-Tony Foti LAPD Camaro drag car there's a model kit of) who has a 1st gen Nova wagon with early 1970s lines and panels metallic and candy paint faded but still there. Hot rodded but not a race car. He was still using it for a parts chaser last time I saw it.

I've been saying that for years!! That we need more base model cars and trucks. Model manufacturers always seem to make the "GT" the "SS" the rarest, versions, the top of the line versions. I would love to see more mainstreamers, more post cars, more stripper versions.

Built this when it came out. Metallic bronze with a cream colored roof. Put a 4.3 V6 from an AMT S10 kit in it that I already had built and painted from the parts box. Got the new version with trailer that I have yet to mess with.

I bought my kit around the same time you got yours. I like the plan you have for going with a modified drag version with the tubbed rear. My plan was for a stock grocery getter for some little old lady with a I6, I looked online and found a bunch of I6 engines 3D resin printed in the proper scale even coming with the hole for the solid metal axle to go through. I haven't started on mine, I personally am in my hoarding stage for when I get my metal building built and can finally properly set up a work area to leave my airbrush out so I don't have to dig equipment out every time I want to do something, its why I stopped working on my '57 Fireball Roberts Ford some three or four years ago now when all that's left to do is just airbrush the 2K clear on the body to seal the decals in and start doing detail painting of the interior roof, inner pillars and the rubber trim around the glass. But it is cool to see the UFO decals included with this kit, will have to hold onto those and try to find a kit to slap that decal on, maybe a 4x4 kit which would make sense for going off road maybe a old early '60s chevy pickup truck with the slide in bed camper. Since the last time I saw one of your videos since KZread stopped recommended them to me for some weird reason, I have added quite a few kits since then, the vehicle related ones are as follows. -'65 A/FX Dyno Don Comet Cyclone from Moebius -'53 Studebaker Starliner USPS stamp series from AMT -'53, '57, '63 Corvette box set from AMT of the 90s -'94 #7 Exide Thunderbird by Monogram, one of the first handful of kits I had when younger finally found a cheap unopened box one on ebay. -'55 Chevy Cameo Coca-Cola pickup, I have the original AMT one from the 90s but some how parts got lost so I got this one to replace it. -Porsche Diesel Junio 108 tractor, wish there were more 1/24 and 1/25 scale tractors out there especially of American brands. -'63 Corvette Stingray by AMT, the split window hardtop to go with the convertible from the AMT box set above. -'69 Boss 302 Mustang by Revell -Mack R685ST tractor truck by AMT in 1/25 scale which is a rarity most tractor trucks are in 1/32 and 1/35 scale due to size. -'56 Thunderbird by Revell I just had to snag up this reissue when I saw it last December as I been looking for one for a long time to go with my two '56 Fairlane kits I have planned to build, one of which is going to be modified to reflect my '56 Fairlane Town Sedan. Still got a huge list I am trying to stay atop of for my wishlist, I have it split between a wordpad document and scalemates since scalemates doesnt have all kits listed for some reason.

Nice kit it is. The issue with the 6 banger & the trailer also includes a Chrysler 392 Hemi race engine. The same engine that is included in the double dragster kit & the AMT parts packs. With all of the ideas you are having about this Nova wagon, I think you might need at least 6 of them. Have fun & happy new year.

I love the idea of a drag wagon and those photo were great. I remeber someone saying in a video that he wished that model comapnies wouldn't make every mopar kit be a hemi. Most came with 440s or 383s. Back in the day, the idea was put the biggest engine in the lightest car, usually a stripper model.

When I saw the picture on the start of the video I thought of a racer that was pretty well known for what they called the modified division back in the day he was also well known nationally and still is for his engine building in all classes he lives in my home town Spartanburg SC. But when he raced 🏁 he had a pure white 63 nova wagon with just his name on the window what was so cool about that class in the 70s and 80s was they all had to run 4 speeds and small blocks and would drop the clutch anywhere between 10,000 to 11,000 rpms which was a lot back then 🤔 but the driver and builder I'm talking about is GENE FULTON. He had a accident with the car in the late 80s but had won son many races with the car he had a big grave dug and burying the car had a tombstone put over it behind his shop and it's still there to this day . Just a cool story 😎 I thought you might like but thanks for another great video as usual 😀

Had a friend over here in Tucson that had on and made a bad ass sleeper out of it, he had to put 4 mufflers on it to make it quiet , you could still hear it rumbling, it was painted like a American flag, I think it ran 10.'s had steel wheels, it looked like a old beater
