Bit of context for this one. Ben Lee exploded on the Australian (and international) music scene in the late ninties. In this clip, the cross-over indie sensation performed on Ten's 'The Panel' show.
Ben said in a @Musicfeedstv article about the appearance...
"it’s summed up everything about being a young upstart full of piss and vinegar. But also it’s funny, because it also taps into the arrogance of young people who run before they can walk. But in a way, that’s what we love about music from young people and that’s what was so cool about that kind of moment. It should be a fuckup. "
Whilst I appreciate this was likely a nightmare at the time and at times in the interview maybe he comes off a bit brash. I think there's some beauty in it about how pure to himself Lee was, and at least he took the performance on and gave it something.
After all, Ben Lee is still around today, the same can't be said for 'The Panel'.
