A global phenomenon that has wowed audiences for over 40 years, Jesus Christ Superstar is a timeless work set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally-known series of events but seen, unusually, through the eyes of Judas Iscariot.
It was the first musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice to be produced for the professional stage and first came to major theatres when it debuted on Broadway in October 1971 at the Mark Hellinger Theatre in New York.
Less than 12 months after the Broadway show opened, the rock spectacle went to London, exploding onto the West End at the Palace Theatre in August 1972 in a hugely successful production. By 1980, after 3,358 performances, Jesus Christ Superstar had become the longest running musical in West End history at the time and grossed $12.3 million.
In all, Jesus Christ Superstar has grossed over $205 million and has been professionally produced in 42 countries around the world!

i was actually at the very first performance at the o2 arena, it was the best thing i have ever seen in my entire life, theatre will never be the same for me after jesus christ superstar. BEN FORSTER IS THE GOD OF THEATRE
Just saw JCSS last night in Brisbane, it was amazing, very emotive & moving. Loved it, I think I was the only person in the audience crying at the end though, how embarrassing. I cried last time I saw it in 1992 & again this time. They all did a fantastic job!
I'm going to see it in October and I'm almost screaming because I love this production so much. I got the film and listened to the soundtrack about twelve times. Ben Forster is perfect for the role and I can't wait until I see it!
I was in the audience when he won Superstar , I was there on his opening night. Looking forward to getting the Blu -Ray on Monday(won't get to watch it till Wednesday :( ) So glad he won. Really love JCS. I like all the film versions and I Loved this 2012 version to bits.
OMG just saw this in Melbourne (first time seeing it) it was absolutely amazing. Keep it going guys. I wish I could see it again!
im sorry but i love him and everything but what he said about "he fell in love with a women " ... umm have u read the bible mate , never fell in love with a women... people get ur facts straight also jesus christ superstar is not even nearly correct about what happend in real life ...
