what if the parents don't know the true history or about a particular subject anyway? Maybe they don't read, or can't read, or don't know English well enough to give them the facts of history? The schools need to teach, as they are trained and educated to do. Not pick and choose because of political ideologies, or just believing falsehoods instead of facts.

I'm definitely for Benjamin Crump. At the same time, the black history course must be reviewed by people extremely familiar with the extensive and complicated history of this country. The problem with black history courses that are approved are still sanitized and don't reveal the whole historical ugly truths of things that happened.

Also, the same way as Colonial America talks about the "Discovery of America" when the true meaning should be called the "Conquering of America!?." It doesn't take a genius to discuss the groups of people responsible for that. Do we? We simply don't want to talk about topics in this country such as that because as I mentioned, true history is sanitized and only wants to give America a mostly nice feel good story. Do we truly want to talk about all types of homicides in this country? Even the undocumented ones? The answer is no, because it would depict a not so good portrayal of certain groups of people. I've marched in rallies, spoken at Black churches where I was shouted down and told to go back to the Northeast (In Philly that means go back to your White neighborhood). My career opened my eyes to this scourge and it SHOULD be the main topic of the day, every day, in this country. The depiction of 'not so good a portrayal of certain groups of people' is seen nightly on our 6 and 11 o'clock local newscasts. You keep injecting yourself in "I." And that you believe that America was invented. I'm just going to make things basic. You do understand that it's impossible for America to be invented when there were already a group of people already living on the land from the most northern parts of Canada to the most southern tip of South America now called Chile. I can only explain to someone like you with an extremely open mind about things. But you stress about black-on-black crimes and what you watch on the news. Do they happen? Yes. But there are reasons why those things happen in our society. We all continue to play the blame game and point fingers at each other and not explore the sources of the problems. I hate to say it, but you don't get it! I'm not going to say that I know it all because I don't. This is what American History has been all about. And how race - a construct exploits our American History. I know you hate hearing this, but hear it is. The privileged vs the non-privileged, the have's vs the have nots. Groups that have more resources than the others. A caste system that is often not discussed because it makes people uncomfortable. And we're all not comfortable on discussing our own flaws on a racial level. Why? Because we all have some type of superiority complex over each other. It's hard to explain. This is why true American History needs to be explained with a wide group of open-minded people that want to know truths about this country, and then we can truly move on. Of course, it's not going to happen outside of some type of miracle. Do you still truly believe American History all started in Jamestown because history books say so? At least one majority group mostly agrees with that version. Think long and hard about that. Be at peace man.

It's a shame when people are so afraid of past history. This is not the 1st time that someone has tried to erase it. I was shocked when I learned just a few years ago, of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. I lived in a state next to Oklahoma, but it wasn't in my History books in school. I learned about it from a friend of mine, who happens to be black. Her family was terrorized, and some were killed in that massacre. There is so much to learn from the past. If we don't learn from it, it will be repeated.

It is not pure african american history.
