He lived in Mexico while he was on a tv show. When he was a teen,I think. And,,when his daughter was surpassing him,he continued learning. Loll. This is what I heard him say on two interviews.

He learned when he was 13. He says he speaks Spanish "passively". When he was 13 he was on a kids series and it was shot in Mexico. He lived there for a year for that show and had to learn it.

I'm aware there's a small portion of very Western European-looking people in Latin America bc it's an immigration destination. The same way some Arabs and South Asians have fair skin and blue/green eyes. It's just not the norm. It's not the standard or common look. Cuando dice "es una muy difícil pregunta" me hace pensar en la gramática del inglés donde ellos colocan primero el adjetivo y luego el sustantivo: difficult question. Nosotros hubiéramos dicho: es una pregunta difícil. Pero se nota que entiende bastante bien el español y se defiende bien.. el español es más difícil que el inglés: por sus accidentes gramaticales, los artículos según géneros, etc. El inglés es más sencillo la verdad.
