    @djg10282 жыл бұрын

    Very nice, couldn’t agree more. You always want your belt to be as tight as possible without hearing belt squeal and without the track spinning at idol. I always keep a 7/16 wrench and a 1/8 Allan with me at all times and check my belt deflection after every ride for best performance. A good way to check it is you want to be able to free spin the belt with your hands and have it take some effort. If you can free spin the belt with no effort the belt is too loose. If you can’t free spin the belt at all it’s too tight. It needs to take some effort. And then I take my dolly cart and elevate the track a little bit let the engine warm up, spin the track a few times and make sure the track is not spinning in the air at idle or it’s too tight and if it is just trying to spin it’s perfect. I think we will see that new automatic adjusting clutch that is on the boost make it to all the other Polaris sleds very soon, hopefully for model year 2023 otherwise definitely by model or 2024. Depends how many of the old clutches Polaris has left and how soon they can ramp up production of the new one.

    @@JESSEJAMES322 I hope so. No reason not to bring it to the trail sleds and all sleds. Even arctic cat allready did haha they have an automatic clutch on their trail sleds for belt defection to always be perfect. The only thing you won’t see Polaris do is bring the quick drive 2.0 belt drive to the trail sleds. That is a mountain only specific thing as they need that to get traction and even then some mountain sleds are still chain case.

    Great video as usual! This is perfect timing as I just put a new belt on my 2016 ZR 8000 which has the same BOSS secondary as the Polaris (different primary). I've never done belt deflection before so this will definitely help. I'm just curious, what Bruce was talking about @20:13 with the slop in the primary, would that cause my clutches to clunk when leaving from a dead stop (being too loose)? My sled has been doing this for as long as I've owned it (4200 miles now), but my buddy's sled (the exact same sled) does not clunk and engages @ roughly 300-400 rpm lower, his is very smooth. I just don't get it?? Ask Obe one Bruce kanobi for me :-)

    @@JESSEJAMES322 I'm not sure what ramps are? We both have 2016 AC ZR8000 137" Limited's, same clutches. The only difference was the belt. I think he's running the stock AC belt and I was running a Gates. I'm currently running an Ultimax XS which appears to be slightly wider than the Gates I just took off ( could be that the gates is worn that bad?) The clunking doesn't seem as bad now with the new belt. So I was thinking what Bruce was saying about the slack in the primary could be the issue? I didn't realize there were shims in the primary ? My rx1 is making a weird noise that I am unable to locate. It is what I will call a clacking sound much like a snow cat. It is only doing it at slow speed and seems to go away with just a bit of speed. I have carefully inspected the track for correct adjustment and any damage and found none. All drive cogs appear fine and all idler wheels turn free. Any thoughts would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Ive always wondered why the belts are ribbed when everything in the clutches is smooth.

    not sure. The sides of the belt that run along the clutches are smooth but idk why the tops and bottoms are ribbed

    Massively increases flexibility of the belt, around the primary in the beginning it is a very small diameter circle it needs to stretch around. If the belt was solid the engine would need to use a whole bunch of power to curl the belt

    Also the belt is loose compared to yours on the video I think it could be the wrong belt the deflection on the drive pulley is all the way in the belt is just barely sticking above the outer lip
