Belmont Mill Nevada
We have been to many mill and mining sites to rummage through what is left behind. There may be a decent amount laying around, but most of the time, it is just fragmented. However, this time, we came across a nearly complete remnant straight out of the past known as Belmont Mill.
With miners cabins, a tramway, and more to explore, we were in our element. The cold weather, dark grey skies and low laying clouds juxtapose with snow-covered mountainsides made this explore one to remember.
Wonderhussy joined us for a fantastic adventure.

Yet one more comment to lookers. Be sure to watch to the end where these fabulous KZreadrs have filmed the wild horses crossing the road. Beautiful!
One of those small buildings was probably the assay lab. Mining operations depend heavily on assay results.

I am fairly certain that the wooden bin full of rocks was a weight to provide tension on the tram cables. The actual tram ore cars would have been metal and able to pass through the opening that the cables ran out of toward the mine. Glad to see that someone is trying to maintain the structure of this old mill bldg.

Yes, David. That makes total sense now that you say that. We are extremely happy that people are still going out there to keep this mill as intact as possible.
Cold storage is called a root cellar on this side of the Pond. The collasped building at the beginning of the video was still standing in 1996. (Cheap Jeep)

In my neighborhood 2 mills from about this same period burned in a wildfire. I was lucky enough to have made some photos of the interior. Such mills are slowly burning and falling down all over the west. Great to have these video records of a era of mechanics and brilliant woodworking never to be seen again.
@PinInTheAtlas

Thank you Richard, that is a shame about those mills. We love to document these places as it marks a defining period in the west, and we need to remember that! The true craftsmanship, pride in ones work, ingenuity and the hard honest work that is truly lacking these days.
I have started watching you when you met up with Sarah aka Wonderhussey. So I like to go back to the beginning when you started and I am catching up to you slowly but I will get there to your new video's. God Bless and be safe.

Very cool episode. Looks like a lot of the processing equipment was removed but there was enough stuff there to spend several hours exploring. The tram receiving end with all the giant pullies and cables was an engineering marvel. It would have been nice to go to the loading point. Very nicely done.

@@PinInTheAtlas I've seen old mill ruins but they are usually just the stone walls. At Millville and Contention in Arizona. But that is insane the preservation. I think the corrugated metal roof and the fact it was built in the 20s has a lot to do with it. And it wasnt stripped like so many were to be moved to the next millsite.
