People keep saying Jeremiah was perfect for Belly but he’s too much alike her. She needs someone who compliments her otherwise its just like being with herself. Conrad has always cared for her, looked after her. He really was the one that stole the show. He had growth. It shows how honestly people deal with grief. First it was confusion, he bottled himself up the only way he could. He had the job and he was the one that was responsible. He stopped having the flings. He stopped drinking, he looked after her. Even in the scene of the dance. Whats most romantic is not that he wanted to dance with her but was willing to embarrass himself so she wasn’t utterly mortified. It shows the type of person he is with his mom. Tucking her up walking her to sit down. He did that to the point he was not enjoying in his own interests. Conrad is a shy guy, but he is someone Thats sentimental. Like the necklace. He knows belly honestly more than the rest. He never left her out of things. He got jealous with Cam, he got jealous with Jeremiah but instead of sabotaging it like Jer did on their kiss, he went with it until it was his time to shine. I think his love for belly and vice a versa is a representation of the love of their mothers. Every relationship has to have friendship first. Their moms love each other and understand each other. Even if its not in the same way it’s still the kind of love that sticks beside you. Through thick and thin. They try to deny it until this very moment. And even in the books, they always are drawn together and eventually find their way back. Thats a soulmate thing. She can never let go of her love for him because even though she has a crush, she loved him from the start. Love grows, and that original feeling is what developed into a crush. What a wonderful comfort thing for her to know before she goes. And the fact that in the book she says take care of him- she means Conrad. She knows.

This book series is my favorite of ALL TIME. And I'm so happy with what they've done with the show. I'm always and forever team Conrad. Have been since day one. They're meant to be. I love Jere, but just not for Belly. He just isn't her soulmate, he just isn't the love for her that Conrad is. And they did an amazing job with the casting of this show, their chemistry in the books is so good. And the chemistry these actors have is amazing! A++ for bringing my fav series to the screen. I can't wait for season 2 and probably 3! 🤍 It is very different from the books but so many of the same things are similar. I'm glad they changed the way she found out about the necklace, and I'm glad he admitted it sooner. There are things in the show I wasn't a fan of that wasn't in the book, but overall I'm so in love with the show! 😊

Also, Conrad having someone to talk to made it easier for us to understand his thought process which we didn't get much from the books. Also the cast really brought the characters in the books to life. I cannot wait for the next season and possibly a 3rd too 😫❤

What’s so special about this scene is it’s so perfect. Using this song for it just make it perfect more. Taylor’s This song isn’t about wanting a toxic relationship. It about though eventually you find your one, somehow you will miss the excitement and fun you had with someone else before even though it’s toxic. Just from a familial standpoint they did a great job casting the brothers because they’re facial features are sooo similar. Not just hsir like in most movies but like their actual bone structure and facial features are so similar when I first starting watching clips ( which I did before starting the show) I couldn’t tell right away who was Conrad snd who was Jeremiah. It took me a few times before I could tell the difference

I think Belly was trying to repress her feelings for Conrad, because she never thought he could love her back. So she tried to hide it with Jer. She never was in love with anyone else than Conrad. Because he always held feelings for Belly, and when she clearly older he couldn’t hide them anymore. Something goes in a guys brain from when they see a girl go to a woman. It hits them like a truck. He grew up with her so it was hard not for him to see her as a little kid, or a sister even. But eventually he knew she wasn’t, and he realized he felt for her. Lets be honest. It’s like some birds in the sense that they mate for life. His heart would’ve always beat for Belly, and he could never find someone to replace those feelings. Belly tried and failed, and at the end of the book she realized she could only ever have loved Conrad. For wherever she goes, he follows.❤️ . Jere was being selfish. Like he knew she was in love with Conrad and yet he tried to prevent it from happening. Nobody can prevent something from happening if two people are supposed be together. Jere wanted her because conrad did. Even Susannah knew that Conrad was always the one who cared for her, included her. He is the sentimental guy. That infinity necklace. Thats love…. Not a fling. To remember the special moments together, never forgetting but keeping them in your heart I think thats maybe why Laurel in the books didn’t want Belly and Jere to go through with that relationship. She knew. Just like Susannah knew. Her and Conrad had the same bond they did, respect and love that is deeper than anything else Just spitballing here but didn’t anybody ever think of that Conrad didn’t tell Belly sooner or admit is feelings because he was already losing his Mom, whom he loved dearly. He couldn’t lose Belly too. He didn’t want to lose her for good Also, he said he liked belly with glasses better, thats an acknowledgment he liked her before when she felt she wasn’t pretty. He was having a hard time wrapping his head around where she was grown up, and he had feelings that were there that he was scared of.

Conrad. He has a relationship with Belly that nobody else can. He understands her more than anybody. Belly was trying to deny that he had feelings for her because she was afraid of rejection. He already had to deal with his mom, and he was afraid to lose Belly too. He loves her. People don’t understand grief. Conrad has a habit of knowing things and keeping them in to protect everybody else. Not once thinking about himself. He is a a human being dealing with the weight of anxiety and grief all alone because he can’t tell anybody he knows because he wants his mom to be happy and he feels like he’ll ruin it or he’ll speak it into play and she’ll die. Everybody is all like team jere but Conrad is juggling all these emotions and his main reasoning is that he doesn’t want to lose Belly too. He loves her, he loves his mom and he can’t lose them both. That’ll break him and send him into a state of no return. Depression I think a lot of times people ship Jere with Belly because he’s easier to understand than conrad. Connie is that complex case. My boyfriend is like him so I understood what was going on with him from the beginning with having not read the books before. They think they can hide it and try to protect everybody. (Especially belly) but he didn’t have to. However, Conrad did what he thought he had to do, because he already knew he was going to lose his mom and he couldn’t lose Belly too sometimes they say you don’t know how much you love someone till you let them go. I think Connie and her had to get out of their teenage years. Then they both knew. I don’t believe the saying that the right person, the relationship comes easy. Its actually a lot harder, because the person you love you want the best for them so you’ll fight to protect them etc. Like I’ll be upset watching it, but they had to set their feelings straight. Belly always saw him as her unattainable crush. When they dated and she realized that he wasn’t perfect, she killed the fantasy part of it. That means all that was let was true emotions of love. When she saw him again after. She wanted to comfort him so bad. Thats the emotions of true love not a sunkissed teenage relationship. I do believe they could’ve gotten together faster, but I just hate the fact that Belly really thought she wasn’t worthy of anything else than what she had with Jeremiah. I mean the man cheated on her, did she not think something else would present itself. Thats just sad. Its kinda like Clevland said in the series. You never truly have a good relationship until you’re okay with yourself. They both had to pull themselves together after all the stuff they had to go through. And when all those clouded emotions were cleared, when she saw him when she was graduating, she knew she could never love anybody else but him. As much as she did for him in that moment. Thats the beautiful part. Not the crazy teenage fling love, but the matured version where you can grow old with someone, and be there for each other endlessly ❤️ Conrad in the books makes you go for him but for me in the series I liked him even more. You understand why he does what he does a little better though in the books. He is adorable. Jere is too much of a Golden Retriever to be serious when it comes to Belly. Belly has always wanted someone who wants her, and that doesn’t come with flighty behavior. She wants that intense kind of love that makes you have a bond greater than anything. Like Susannah and Laurel. That no matter how much you fight, nothing can break you. Thats what Conrad and Belly have. That intense love. Thats why they were a better fit. Jere is cool and all but he just doesn’t compliment Belly. Now for a friendship kinda love he’s great!
