Bells of Sheffield Cathedral (outside tower)

Ойын-сауық

A few clips taken during the National 12 bell final held in Sheffield this year featuring 'a team's' test piece. Special thanks to Gareth Lawson for allowing me to use the belfry footage over the top of the recording outside the tower, and to Matthew Thewsey as well as Matthew Tosh for an excellent commentary throughout the day. The broadcast was carried out to a very high and professional standard. Here's to next year!
This was also a fantastic day out, held in central, easy to access location; the Cathedral had plenty to keep us going throughout the day, including, tea, coffee and beer amongst other refreshments plus plenty of space. There are several occasions were the positivity and enthusiasm of large intergenerational groups makes the art of ringing a really enjoyable hobby - this amongst the top of those occasions!
Note: audio featured is from outside the tower and the picture synced with it. The belfry sound has been heavily reduced.
The bells outside sound superb, and give off wedding bell vibes though acoustically challenged on the south side where the sound bounces off the buildings. On the north side however, they are crisp, mellow and quite clear.

There seem to be a few identical peals of these bells complete with extra treble a n d 6b Canterbury and St Mary's Cath in Sydney are two I know of. My dad ex Whitechapel installed Sy Mary's in 1986. The drone 10 are a also very delightful

@@RingerThomas Criplegate isn't identical in bell weight nor number of bells. Criplegate has a sharp 2nd to give a front 8. The others have a mid 8 because of a 6b plus a sharp treble one zone above the treble so you get a light 10. Yorkminster also has a light 10 but that is 24cwt . Still a very decent 10
