I think that Jude Bellingham has been a victim of his own success at Real Madrid. When he was playing on Borussia Dortmund and Birmingham City, he was playing as a number 8 more of a box to box midfielder as he at times was regularly dropping deep to get involved in the game, but since his move to Real Madrid, he has been playing further forward than ever before as a number 10 an attacking midfielder or at times a false 9 and he hit the ground running made a fast start and put up ridiculous numbers. Despite the fact that he is a midfielder, he scored 17 goals in 20 games from August to December and he was breaking records for fun, and he was scoring so many goals to the point where he had the most goals scored by a player in their first 15 games for Real Madrid and everything he touched turned to goals popped up with a lot of game winners being at the right place at the right time in the box and he was at a rate where he was gonna end the season with at least 35+ goals. In the 2nd half of the season he was less prolific in front of goal, he still managed to have 23 goals in all competitions which is good enough despite the fact that you’re a midfielder and it’s your debut season at Real Madrid. This is a guy who was never even a prolific scorer yet scored more goals in one season at Real Madrid than he did in his entire stint at Borussia Dortmund and he was never even a goalscorer. It’s true that the goals dried up for him later on in the season, but for me what I have an issue is when people push an agenda that “Bellingham is a striker” and think that when he doesn’t score he’s ghosting. Because he was scoring goals for fun at the start of the season, many people forget that he’s a midfielder and it was easy to say that he had a bad game when he didn’t score. He has so much PR and the media hypes him up a lot when he drops a striker, everyone is ready to slander him and call him an overrated player and think that football fell off if he wins the Ballon Dor this year. When I say he’s a better player now than he was before, I have never pushed a narrative that Bellingham is doing so well because he plays for Real Madrid as yes being surrounded around the best players in the world can elevate him to another level, he has always been a good player as we saw when he was at Borussia Dortmund and they won’t play 100 million for you if they saw you as an average player. In fact there were people who were excited that Real Madrid were signing him and questioned whether or not they even needed him because they had a lot of top midfielders and he has proven to be an excellent fit for the team. Towards the latter stages of the champions league he wasn’t as impactful for his team as you would expect from a player who’s in the conversation for the Ballon Dor, he doesn’t always need to score a goal in order to make an impact on the game especially when he’s very versatile and you can see how much of a difference maker he isn to his team in order aspects of his game. He’s not always going to be a flashy player as he’s not the best goalscorer dribbler playmaker or defender, all of those are attributes that he has in his game and all the little things that he does it helps the team. Now that Real Madrid have signed Kylian Mbappe a proper goalscorer, this means that Bellingham will focus on playing as a midfielder and with his arrival I don’t think he’s going to drop off as yes he’ll score less goals than last season, whether they play a 4-3-3 and he’s a number 8 as a Kroos replacement or a 4-3-1-2 playing in the role he excelled in last season, he’s a game changer who has a lot in his game that doesn’t get talked about enough.

Next season he will be a 8 in a 3 man midfield as front 3 would be Vini at Lw , Rodrygo at Rw and Mbappe at St and next season he will not get that much goals to his game and idk but he is currently one of the most hated football player and the thing is he is so nice and doesn't cause any sort of fight

He was clearly tired at the end of the season since Madrid had no squad depth up front and people forget Vinicius not only missed a lot of games due to injury from the start, but also could barely find the goal the first part of the season. Thought he had 5 goals in all competitions at winterbreak. Anyways point being, he was obviously tired and next year he's going to play at Kroos his position as a roaming playmaker who has the license to run up the field wherever he wants to get the ball. That's the role that suits him the most really.

What a great player. This is the kind of players I want to see in the conversation for the ballondor. Not haaland type (although I love the guy) or even Vinicius. Thank for showing those other aspects of the game (other than goals of course). Love your clips.
