ABOUT BELLE FILM:
From the celebrated Academy Award®-nominated director Mamoru Hosoda and Studio Chizu, creators of Mirai, Wolf Children, Summer Wars, and more, comes a fantastical, heartfelt story of growing up in the age of social media.
Suzu is a shy, everyday high school student living in a rural village. For years, she has only been a shadow of herself. But when she enters “U”, a massive virtual world, she escapes into her online persona as Belle, a gorgeous and globally-beloved singer. One day, her concert is interrupted by a monstrous creature chased by vigilantes. As their hunt escalates, Suzu embarks on an emotional and epic quest to uncover the identity of this mysterious “beast” and to discover her true self in a world where you can be anyone. The English language dubbed version of BELLE will feature the voices of Chace Crawford (The Boys, Gossip Girl), Manny Jacinto (Nine Perfect Strangers, The Good Place), and Hunter Schafer (Euphoria). In her first lead role, playing teenager Suzu and the titular virtual singer ‘Belle’ is Kylie McNeill, who also recorded English versions of the film’s soundtrack.
ABOUT BELLE:
The mysterious songstress who suddenly appeared within the virtual world of <U>. As an artist, she is known as "Belle," which means "beautiful" in French. Her unique attire and performances draw in an audience who all agree in unison that "it feels like she's singing just for me." Belle has managed to top the music charts almost overnight.
ABOUT STUDIO CHIZU:
STUDIO CHIZU was established in April 2011 by director Mamoru Hosoda and producer Yuichiro Saito as a new base for filmmaking. Studio Chizu is a studio specializing in the planning and production of animated films, and the name of the studio reflects the spirit of filmmaking: "to challenge new motifs, themes, and expressions, and to create a new map in the land of animated films, where there are still infinite possibilities. For children and their families around the world, we want to continue to be a "challenger" to create new values and a future for this era. www.studiochizu.com

It's amazing that after a short period of time there appear many musical variations and accompanying scores of Suzu's debut song "Gales of Song" after singing it almost immediately after her "rebirth" as the songstress Belle. Though whether they were made by her U-Manager or by some of the many individual users of U themselves is unknown, though it proves just how popular the song has become.

I find it cool how in one remix they manage to capture the different kinds of musical variations and remixes you’d find fans make on KZread. The entire movie has a rather ingenious way of portraying and personifying the internet.

I found myself wishing they had incorporated these remixes into the advertising for the film to make it look like Belle was going viral irl.

@@NiteSaiya Since it is not shown what state Suzu is in while "diving" in the world of U it can only be speculated if she was actually singing irl or not. I agree with your wishful thinking, though I think that the use of the original version of "Gales of Song" was the better choice as the raw emotion and depth that the song showcases is a part of Suzu's character development and a kind of summary to the beginning of her journey.

I really appreciated the lyrical tie ins between Gales of song and the original Disney film Belle song. "There must be more than this provincial life" and "I walk alone, there's more to life I have to know" :)

Mark my words, when I get my own movie put into production, I'm renting out a movie theater and watching Belle as it was intended to be seen to celebrate. Missing out on seeing this in theaters is one of the biggest regrets of my life, a wrong that will only be righted when I hear this song booming out of a movie speaker.

To be honest I wasn’t expecting much from this. I grew out of most anime (except for Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon forever!!!) a few years ago but I kept hearing amazing things about this movie so I watched it a month ago. It was amazing. I rewatched it a few days ago after listening to the soundtrack on repeat for that entire month and, well, it made me (a student filmmaker) cry enough to bump it up to a 10/10. Watch this movie, even if you’re not into anime. This isn’t just anime. It’s CINEMA.

nah! the gale of song we see are her debut song, the differents one are just remix of her friend and other U users, the clothes too. There a scene in the Swarm of song that show Bell with multiple changing costumes at 1 solid pose, so her outfits there is just like a splash art. Offcourse, we only hear her 4 main song but she had to have other ones to become such a renowed diva as she is. She was shown writing many pieces but unable to sing any of them in the aftermath of her mother passing away.
