This gem will always remind me why Belle and Sebastian was there for me in my terrifying teenage years

Always been there for every year
This is the kind of song that makes me want to go for a long 3am walk. This is a good song.
A song so precious that it belongs in a museum.

That is a really good way of putting it! This could have been on 'God help the girl'.
Seriously is one of my favourite songs. This is 42.
I got this in my final year at uni, 1998/99, massive memory lane tune.

Me too! I was so surprised to find they had some new, import-only EP
this song is so sad that make me cry and I dont know why
My all-time favourite B & S song. Superb lyrics and I love the gradual build throughout the song.
This song will forever stick in my memory. I remember very well the atmosphere at that time, this song played when I was traveling alone on an interprovincial bus, sitting by the window looking at the evening sky and waiting for the sun to set. The orange and purple colors of the sky mix with the views of the mountains and rice fields along the way. Such a beautiful day and it's very calming. Every time I hear this song again, I reimagine the atmosphere of that time.
This put me on the ground with music
I cry every time. God bless Belle & Sebastian.
I count three four and we start to slow because a song has got to stop somewhere More than twenty years after I first heard it, it still blows me away

Their early stuff was staggeringly good. I remember this from 1999, just before the Reading festival. Beautiful song.
A supreme Indie slowburner, what a magnificent record
This song finds something in everyone that's beautiful in its own unique way; that's the love that I love the most. Bc it lasts.
Belle & Sebastian keeps me sane. Their music just makes me feel so... consoled.
“Stevie's full of good intentions, Richards into rock 'n' roll, Stuart's staying in and he thinks it's a sin, That he has to leave the house at all.” Brilliant, original lyrics and a top, top tune, building to an awesome crescendo. Massively overlooked song!

Much agreed my friend!
Genius songwriting
Back here. Belle and Sebastian will never die believe me
Gorgeous....slow burn
Just beyond beautiful. “ she put me on the ground with judo”.
My favorite part is when she puts him on the ground with judo and they see him lying in the park, hysterical.

I find myself singing just that line allthe time, doing the dishes, walking down the street, checking my mail...
Love watching my hometown from 20 years or so ago
This is so amazing. Like most of Belle and Sebs stuff of course.

Most beautiful song ever.
Takes me back to high school, riding the bus and my bicycle. Ah nostalgia.
I waited 23 years to watch that!!!
"Stuart's staying in and he think it's a sin that he has to leave the house at all" = My life 18 months into COVID madness in USA
This is just the kind of calming music I needed right now. The part where it got meta really sealed it for me.
you guys _are_ terrific!
Thank you very much for the Minnesota version of this last time you were here. Do come back soon and finish it to the end!
The Golden Age for my personal taste. The definition of 90s indie in 7 minutes.
I really enjoy it, love it 💕
"I'll admit I'm feeling strange" "Now I could tell you what I'm thinking, But it never seems to do you good, It's beyond me what a girl can see" This is the epitome of my life, especially the early days
“Stevie's full of good intentions, Richards into rock 'n' roll, Stuart's staying in and he thinks it's a sin, That he has to leave the house at all.” Stuart must be feeling mighty blessed around now.

Quantos anos sem ouvir esse som...
It's perfect.
Thanks
this is love
My cousin bootlegged their first EPs for me back in the 90s, this song appeared on one of them, and I loved it instantly. It is so lush, plus the usual hilariously frank B&S lyrics, and I absolutely love the sour/slightly off tune trumpet when it appears. (I've since purchased albums to make up for the bootlegs. lol)
beautiful!
They really nailed the VU vibe on this one.
I listened to this every day in July 1999
One of my B&S favourite song. 90's indie music at its best, always remind me a wee bit to Sebadoh.

I love them both. Many of my absolute favorite songs were by either belle and sebastian or sebadoh/folk implosion. Lou Barlow
Pure wonder!
OMG! ❤
Reminds me of watching 'No Disco' back in the day
This is now the official Nicole theme song for now! I love it!
What an amazing song. Is probably between the ones i love the most, even though is not in any lp. But in those ep are more than one gem. The Loneliness of a Middle Distance Runner is another one i really like. But this one is so athmospheric, and kind like in crescendo. Amazing. Probably one I love the most
每聽一次,就能被感動一次

F A N T A S T I C
It all starts out nice and sweet and pretty and innocent and romantric in life like this and then the pretty little kittens that melted your heart then turn in to mean vicious vindictive tigers with nasty claws and teeth!!!

I’ll admit I’m feeling strange
Taking issue with the descriptor of Snow Patrol having been 'critically acclaimed'
Emma tried to run away, I followed her across the city, She went out to the Easter house, Because she liked the sound of it. She didn't have a single penny, She stuck a finger in the air, She tried to flag down an airplane, I suppose she needs a holiday. I put my arm around her waist, She put me on the ground with Judo, She didn't recognize my face, She wasn't even looking. Laura's feeling just ideal, Her horoscope was nearly perfect, She's thinking of something to do, Because she is The Birthday Girl. She walked out to the edge of town, She saw me lying in the park, She took Emma by the hand, They've got a lot in common. I'll leave them to do what they want, I'll leave them to do what they need to, I'll go and play with words and pictures, I'll admit I'm feeling strange. I'm not as sad as Dostoevsky, I'm not as clever as Mark Twain, I'll only buy a book for the way it looks, And then I stick it on the shelf again. Now I could tell you what I'm thinking, But it never seems to do you good, It's beyond me what a girl can see, I'm only lucid when I'm writing songs. This is just a modern rock song, This is just a sorry lament, We're four boys in corduroys, We're not terrific but we're competent. Stevie's full of good intentions, Richards into rock 'n' roll, Stuart's staying in and he thinks it's a sin, That he has to leave the house at all. This is just a modern rock song, This is just a tender affair, I count "three, four" and then we start to slow, Because a song has got to stop somewhere
I think it’s a sin that I have to leave the house at all
Nowdays we have GPS and noboby cares
Seachdad ’s a seachdad beachd.
This is just a slow modern pop song. 🙂
Wish you had visited the rocket house. Jon’s mom would have fed you breakfast and let you stay without paying rent
Not terrible but competent 🙂
don't like the double use of the two s's on the word grass in their scrabble game... what a waste of two s's!
they wrote far too many good songs
❤
