bellatrix lestrange black | "scream for me"

Фильм және анимация

HD, small screen + headphones = magic:)
Sorry for the re-upload -- technical issues. Also, please let me know if you know how to increase the video's quality on YT. It appears fine on my laptop, 1080p, but then the quality is horrible here on YT. Thx!
It's been a while since I uploaded anything. And it's the first time I tried myself in the Harry Potter universe. I've always been the weirdo who loved the Black-Lestrange-Malfoy family and the Dark Lord, wishing they would win over the-boy-who-lived-and-wouldn't-die.
I am still not sure if Eva Green or Katie McGrath is my perfect Bella, but I loved vidding Eva in this role. I love Helena Bonham Carter, but, in my opinion, Bella is too insane and not much else in the movies, while I see her as a rather complex character.
I do have some completely AU moments in this video (like Bella killing Tonks) and my head-canon. The ending turned out very unexpected;) You could say I interpreted the Cursed Child into this when I got too invested along the way. I'll leave it up to you to decide if this evil duo succeeded or it didn't work out in the end.
I believe the plot is pretty much self-explanatory, but please let me know if I should add it in the description! Would love to read your comments, ideas, and thoughts.

The video was excellently made! My only problem was Eva Green. While I love her, I don't see book Bellatrix at all in her. Not one bit. I agree that Bellatrix was very OOC in the films but she's also always OOC in videos where Eva and Katie play her. I saw Walburga Black in this video (and every video where Eva is Bellatrix) not Bellatrix because she is the ideal Walburga but very wrong for Bella,so the scenes with Voldemort seemed weird. She doesn't look anything like how Bellatrix is described, and even her energy, mannerism, and aura is very off. She doesn't have Bellatrix's trademark heavily-lidded eyes and strong jaw (hers is defined but not strong. There's a difference). These are two defining features of Bellatrix's face and they determine much of her entire look and her essence , i.e how she is perceived. Sometimes even if actors don't match physical appearance, the energy they exude, their mannerism, and the aura makes up for it but Eva doesn't match any of that either. She is far too calm, collected and composed (I know the films took her instability to a whole new level and quite unnecessarily but even in the books she is very volatile, tempestuous and colourful in her behaviour, albeit in a very different way). Eva also has a sombre air about her (it's in her eyes) that Bellatrix never had. She is not blithe and dramatic enough for Bellatrix, which are two of her traits we often see. In the books she is very volatile, erratic, frenetic, and blithe and never gloomy even when depressed. Morose, yes, but never sombre or dour or tense like Eva as Bella has a very carefree attitude. The films, to me, were as wrong as Eva albeit differently but at least they got the face right. She was too crazy and childish in the films. Book Bella is a little childish but not in the way they portrayed her in the films. She is childish because she is impulsive, impatient, blithe, brazen, tempestuous, audacious, and can be sulky. She likes to mock people, and she is optimistic, vibrant, fiery, and passionate. She does not however, jump and dance around like a child and she does not 'pout'. She is quite dignified, calculating, and rational (which is something the fandom never acknowledges), knows when to stop having fun, can be cold, and is responsible enough. She is also one of the most intelligent characters and the only one from both sides who figured out Snape's true motivations. She was among the top duellists ever and very powerful in general. She was a powerful Legilimens and Occlumens. And she was not Greyback. She did not join the Cause to kill and torture but because she believed in it and genuinely wanted it to flourish. Her relationship with Voldemort doubles her complexity. Bellatrix is a very complex character and I feel like these typecasting fancasts (Eva Green or Katie McGrath) are very reductive. They are reducing Bella to dark-haired evil witch when she is much more complex than that. Bella is a very complex character and I would loath for her character to be changed in its entirety. One thing that I love about Bella is that she is not just another repetitive female villain who is cold and loves power and basically is a female Voldemort, while I love characters like this when they are written well, it's true that they're repetitive and I don't want Bella to be reduced to that. The films reduced her to a psychotic one-dimensional bimbo and fancasts like Eva or Katie reduce her to a textbook female villain. I love the real Bellatrix. The canon, book Bellatrix. She is perfect the way she is and she does not need alternations of any sort. If I could compare her to any other character, I would compare her to Scarlett O'Hara. A spoiled, privileged woman who is calculating, ruthless, and cunning, childish and mature at the same time, vain, a little sadistic, flawed, vulnerable, sentimental but rational, and very, very complex. My ideal Bella will always be Helena Bonham Carter although not as she was in the HP films lol. Not at all. But rather a combination of her pre-Burton films where she had her presence, mannerism, and composed appearance right, for instance Merlin, Wings of the Dove, and Twelfth Night. Another actress I think would make a good enough Bella (even though she isn't my Bella) is Lara Pulver. To be honest, even Keira Knightley seemed more Bellatrix than Eva in this video.

Wow! Thank you for such a deep, thoughtful comment. I love your depiction of Bella's character -- I believe you are spot on about her nature. She is incredibly complex and extremely intelligent, unlike her movie portrayal. I love Helena Bonham Carter, but I find it difficult to find enough high-quality material with her to dive deep into the story. I have started one video with Katie McGrath (Bella) and Matthew Goode (Riddle), though I am unsure when I will get a chance to finish it. In some parts, Katie does remind me of Bellatrix, though not always. When I tested her with Ralph Fiennes, though, the two just didn't work well together for me (hence Matthew Goode). At some point in the future (though I am currently too busy for vidding), I'd love to look into Lara Pulver's filmography (I can only remember Sherlock). In any case, again, THANK YOU for such thoughtful feedback!

For me, that's one of the big/complicated issues with fancasts -- finding movies/shows that have appropriate dialogues and scenes with chosen actors. That's also why Eva worked so well for me in terms of vidding: dialogues matched the story perfectly.

@@miacoopers You're welcome! I think Lara Pulver has the best content for Bella in Robin Hood, Fleming, and Da Vinci's Demons, but Sherlock too.
