I lived and worked in Dallas Texas for about 15 years. In one job I worked at for 12 years, I used to see this Bell 47 flying and landing just a few blocks away. I would drive by there and see it parked next to a building. The building was an aircraft instrument shop. In the evening I could hear him start it up and once he cleared the trees I could see him fly off to home. Very cool.

@@AirClipscom I have always been fascinated by helicopters. Started flying RC helis in the early 80;s (Cricket) and still fly today. I've also logged at least 500 hours riding in helicopters. Enjoyed this video, thank you.

In Germany, even the hanger doors are precise. Any smaller, the machine would not fit. Any larger is a waste of door.

Many a Korean War soldier owes their life to this machine including my late father. He said that was one hell of a ride.

In 1968 I and my sister, flew in a 47 over Niagara Falls. (Not actually over the falls.) Later when I was watching the program 'That's Incredible', Cathy Lee Crosby ( I think she that was her name) flew on one and said, "The first thing you learn about helicopters is they are so loud you can't hear yourself think". I thought, girl you got that right.

line service tech here. It ain't easy pushing that helo in straight into that narrow space. we have to have three sets of eyes to put aircraft into hangars w/ a lot more clearance. nice job Mr. Pilot.

My sister and I rode in a Bell 47 on a tour of Niagara Fall's in 1968. The thing was so loud I couldn't hear myself think.

Remembering when Doan Aviation used to give rides in a Bell 47G from the flat roof of the dance hall on the Daytona Beach pier until 1974. Then there was a fatal crash on one of the sightseeing rides down the beach. A rotor blade separated if I recall correctly.

Some "Copter-Jockies" are nuts. A few years back I saw a guy land his toy between the KMTW FBO and my Cessna 152 with only about 20 feet separation from either one. Well nothing happened and I left first. I talked to him, he was the inspector for the electric company's transmission line towers.

It would have been a tight bun easy landing in the yard. Lots of dust though. I always landed my B47 in a tighter area at my shed in Australia. Maybe his neighbours complained and had him stopped.
