Lyrics:
Take my hand
Tell me what you're feeling
Understand
This is just the beginning
Although I have to go
It makes me feel like crying
I don't know when I'll see you again
Darling, leave a light on for me
I'll be there before you close the door
To give you all the love that you need
Darling, leave a light on for me
'Cause when the world takes me away
You are still the air that I breathe
I can't explain, I don't know
Just how far I have to go
But darling I'll keep the key
Just leave the light on for me
Yes, I know
What I'm asking is crazy
You could go
Just get tired of waiting
But if I lose your love (lose your love)
Torn out by my desire
That would be the one regret of my life
Darling leave a light on for me
I'll be there before you close the door
To give you all the love that you need
Darling leave a light on for me
'Cause when the world takes me away
You are still the air that I breathe
I can't explain, I don't know
Just how far I have to go
But darling I'll keep the key
Just leave a light on for me
Just like a spark lights up the dark
Baby that's your heart
Baby that's your heart
Baby that's your heart

Kids today will never understand how great the 80s were. They can have Taylor Swift. I will take this lady any day.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m 51 and will always love and miss the 80s. Taylor Swift’s songwriting skills, music business acumen, and pop sensibilities are world class. She has earned her global star status. That isn’t meant as a knock on Belinda Carlisle or her bandmates from the Go-Go’s. Just that cocaine is a helluva drug.

@@stevabobic Your life is definitely dismal if you feel the need to write such an unnecessary, demeaning comment to a stranger about a comment that had nothing to do with you. What a horror.
When I watch videos like this, I can't help but smile and realize I grew up in a very special time in history. Thank you BC.
I mean is there not a tune this gorgeous woman didn't sing so melodiously! Angelic, iconic voice that you can't even imitate or duplicate! That's how incredible her voice was and is to listen to! All Time Great! With Love from Brooklyn, NY Belinda! ❤❤❤

Belinda has the looks, the moves and the voice to match. What a performer. She certainly made an impression. Esp on the male folk.
The most beautiful entertainer from the 80's. She's flawless.
Bittersweet emotions... Flashbacks of loved ones and friends long gone by now... If I knew back then what I know now...I would cherish every fucking second with them

Wow didn’t realise she was this beautiful when I was growing up. She’s gorgeous ❤
Music from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, had substance. Music today is souless and empty.
My favorite Belinda Carlisle song and for sure one of my favorite 1980's song. I can hear this song over and over.

No hair extensions, no all-over-tattoos, no fake boobs. You dont see women like that anymore. Back then Belinda was the most beautiful girl on the planet.

Saw Belinda live in 2023 - Exeter... She was fantastic.. Couldn't knock her - solid vocalist. 😊
One watch of this video tells you all you need about how brilliant her music is, and why she was (and still is) such a big crush for so many of us.
I loved this song when it came out. Reminds me so much of my college years. Those were the days ❤
....OK, to all of you whinin' about the lyp-synch....EVERYONE did it in 1989, and TOTP had their Artists do it for DECADES....It was to make sure the consumer 'heard' what they were going to buy, when they bought the Single....back THEN, People already KNEW Singers like Belinda can sing....She was already a 'proven' talent.....and, was DEVASTATINGLY GORGEOUS....The 80's Ann Margret.....😍

100 agree that was the norm back then so people can’t be critical. Bieber and his excessive use of auto tune cause he doesn’t have any talents is what people should be critical of
@martinhughes2549

On TOTP from 1966 to 1980 they had to rerecord the single, then mime to it OR sing a live vocal over a backing track. If ut was a solo singer like Tom Jones, Lulu or many others they often sang live with a live backing band. The TOTP orchestra.Thats why bands like Queen devised videos to avoid having recreate Bohemian Rhapsody, it was due to the Musicians Union. After 1980 to about 1991 ish they had to mime to the single version. Then they went back to live vocals for a period. For most if the 70s the TOTP version was often somewhat different to the single version.

Not because the artists demanded it but because the tv shows they performed on were not set up for live vocal performances.
@martinhughes2549
6 ай бұрын
@kekwayblaze3176 There were technical reasons as well. Microphony, for example, when vibration from audio can cause the TV tube in the TV camera to vibrate, causing moving lines up the picture. Not good. In the TOTP studio, there wasn't time to adjust volumes and set levels to avoid this effect. It was easier to have artists mime to a quiet playback in the studio, and then add a loud audio for broadcast. It was hard to set levels for multiple artists in the studio. They didn't have time for prolonged soundchecks. Again live performance was possible, but it was harder to do. However the Musicians Union vetoed miming to a single. So artists had to perform to a rerecording. This was the case on BBC shows and ITV productions. (Granada/LWT/Thames/ATV/Yorkshire etc)
Jesus! This confirms why I got a certain sensation as a kid.
