Belarus protests: Striking workers walk off the job | DW news

The European Union is set to impose sanctions on Belarusian officials involved in the brutal crackdown on peaceful protests. Demonstrations calling for new elections have been met with police violence and mass arrests. Some five thousand protesters are still in custody. President Alexander Lukashenko has vowed to cling to power, despite mounting calls for him to go.

It also shows what I have always said. In America I hear friends say they will use the military to suppress us. I do not believe that because most in the military are our family members and do not want to harm us. The police yes. Not the military.

@@antonidas3812 hmmm how can I put this. Police all over the world tend to behave in a certain way. This is because it takes a certain personality to want to be a cop. The military in the US is made up of volunteers who mostly need a job or a way to get an education. They are not filled with an inborn need to dominate others.

SOS from Russia: Goodwill people! FORCE NATO to CLOSE the SKY OVER UKRAINE. This is the only way to stop Putin. Otherwise, you will be the next victim of his aggression! Putin is a worldwide criminal but don't be afraid of a nuclear strike from his side - he cannot do it alone, and the top militaries around him have families and want to live. It's just a threat on his part. He uses your fear to prevent military aid to Ukraine. BY NOT CLOSING the SKY OVER Ukraine NATO BECOMES an ACCOMPLICE of Putin's CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY

The goal is to topple a legitimate government. Where is the evidence that they cheated in the elections? The US thought of two possible outcomes, and prepared for both. 1, if the government did not remove the police, the demonstration would become more hostile, as happened in Ukraine. 2, the government takes out the police and they use their oppressive violence to illegitimate the government. All European countries oppress and beat the people who demand rights, but only complain about those who do not follow the plan of the European elites. Where is the evidence of cheating? That's what matters most, that's where the truth lies, so don't make us look the other way ...

Have a research about the People power 1 in the Philippines. It's by far the most successful peaceful protest in the world but the thing is after that, it doesn't have the assurance that the government will be corrupt free. Just like what we experienced in our country. The change must not only start with the government but the entire community as well.

I used to believe these news.. But similar protests happened in Serbia too, when our president gained 65% in elections. Some medias were saying how Serbian police was brutal and the protests were peaceful. That was absolutely not true. The protests in Serbia 2020 were very violent with cars being burned and some exstremists throwing molotov coctails on police, and trying to get in the parlament. The western media also lied that most of Serbia was on the protests, when in fact only a few people showed up, still enough to make a lot of damage. Most of Serbia is standing strong with our current president, who fixed the country ans made it Europe's fastest growing economy. Look at these western news with caution and dont believe it fully.
