The queen, the legend, the great Mary J Blige.
We love you Mary!!!
I was left alone in Jr high and listening to Mary and Lauryn Hill and Faith Evans helped keep me safe.

Agreed they are the queen's of r&b!!! And they are humble!!!
Mary J Blige is seriously as REAL as it gets.
To hear that list of awards, knowing she's been been the queen since I was in high school, it's awesome to see she is a real person with depth and sincerity. And Colbert is genuinely enthusiastic that she's on, but he has a conversation instead of empty praise and fake excitement. These are real people, that care, that work hard and enjoy it. They remind me of plumbers, doctors, teachers, construction workers, garbage collectors. You can't get it done until you really do the work and no reason you can't enjoy the effort *and* result. Look for friends, workers and politicians like this and see your world improve.
Within the past few years I have seen Mary loosen up more during interviews…she’s funny…she’s smart….she’s a lot more confident…and relaxed…

You got it! It is always worth the try because nothing worse then waking up at 60-70 and saying I didn’t do it. Although, some people try things at that age too and get their dreams going. My dad worked with a boss who was 64 or so. He was with a company for over 10 yrs. One day he got let go with little notice. So he decided to retire, still did some freelancing, but also joined a band and started to perform at bars. Life is unpredictable. Bur dreams don’t have to die.

50 cent was a runner up for MVP
How many times does she dis Colbert? First, she tries to brush by him as he moves to greet her and offer assistance to climb the steps in those obviously mobility-inhbiting boots and tight skirt. Then, at 1:34 when he says, "Nice to see you again," she gives what appears to be a disdainful non-smile, accompanied by an equally whatevs "mm-hmm." Granted, I am only 3 minutes into the vid, so maybe I'm overreacting and reading too much into this. Criticism/correction welcome.

I have this feeling that poc women, esp in hip hop/rap/r&b, get made fun of a toooon in interviews so they’re extra cautious when going on talk shows. I noticed the same thing on Colbert with Minaj, she started off like “idk about this” but he started with a perfect compliment “you’re very smart” and she was relaxed and smiling by the end! Mary can perform in this tight dress you all are hating on. She looks fabulous and can dance and do what she does on stage in the outfit she has on. Nothing is uncomfortable about it dummy. You just can’t dress and have no style.
I saw A woman get punched In the head at her wedding reception by her husband and all she did was fix her face and remain presentable. No man but Chris Rock is that strong. But recently a woman made me understand No one wants to be that strong but when you have no other option what do you do.

????? Why the disrespect
Yet another exasperating example of women (socially conditioned, perhaps) wearing shoes and apparel that make it nearly impossible to walk. Too often I notice this and other examples of women made mobility-challenged and obviously uncomfortable, like when they have to continually adjust/pull down their dresses/skirts, while seated for an interview, so that they don't inadvertently expose more than they wish. I would think this would be so distracting for a quest to have to always be self-conscious about how they look. On the flip-slide, a man walks out with a normal, walkin-down-the-street gait, sits down, maybe adjusts his thang once, and likely never again has to think about it. Oi.
