    Well, I am Kenyan wa bara and I learnt a hard lesson dealing with different races of Kenyans. I was living in San Francisco and was at a gym, saw this cute guy (Caucasian) and decided to call my friend and gush about him in Kiswahili, as he is across me doing his exercise, like for sure he won't know what I am talking about. Girl, once the call was done...."jameni ng'oja nitoke, lakini nashukuru sifa ulizonipa" 😆😂 like no foreign accent at all with it. If anything my swa was the one with an accent 😂 Never again....

You should do another video about being mixed race in Kenya lakini this time let’s see about the positives of being mixed race (you know what they are...). I am a mum to a mixed race children, half white and from Mombasa too. All I can say is that, coastal folks really value the local traditions and if you stay there and are consistently blending with the culture then you are more likely to be accepted. Its harder when you keep switching it up and you dress like the locals then dress like a European. Because of the colonial trauma the locals are less likely to fully accept you into their intimate spaces.There many women who look like you in Mombasa that we commonly call waswahili, also, there many women from taita tribe who tend to be as light skinned like you and they are not even mixed and they fit in the community and no one asks where they are from. I am only basing this out of my experience growing up with women who looked that like skin but are 100%Kenyan. I think being consistent with the culture and traditions especially in Mombasa is what gains you that acceptance. I am not trying to invalidate your experiences in anyway, and I appreciate you being honest. Its just a thought based on local experiences to try and explain why when you dress as a local from the typical European clothes people kinda say you are a white woman trying to copy their culture.

    I find this weird because in the coast isn't there a lot of mixed people already because of the long history of arab,indian presence etc? But I went through similar things but in Nairobi, it wasn't that bad, but once in a while i used to get called "mzungu".

So I enjoyed my life but 4 yrs ago we moved to south Puglia, this is tourists part of Italy, at the beginning me & my husband we will go for breakfast in the Bar as is Italian culture ESPRESSO & 🥐 CORNETTO, & This is the point, normally I don't drink espresso but American coffee 🙄 my dear as soon as they hear American coffee the price is 3 times. But in Milan price was normal. So whenever we will move we will meet challenges. Take care I enjoyed this video

    It's Funny to me that some people in this comment section find it odd that mixed race people are called white in African nations. Im biracial BW and though I'm in the US, I've been made aware by others over the years that Black Africans often see Biracials as white and call them Misugunu (I don't know if I wrote that right if not I apologize). This seems perfectly valid. Biracials are mixed race not monoracial Africans nor should they be seen as that .

    It's weird because in America literally no one would call or consider you white. They would see as black or mixed but never white. If you are mixed with black/African here no one could ever consider you white. It's weird that Africans consider mixed people white because they tend to have lips, noses and curly hair that clearly shows they have African dna. But I also thought a lot of people in coastal east Africa were mixed looking or light skin due to a long history of an Persian and Arab presence.

  • @kikikareema5912

    @kikikareema5912

    @1salvaje I'm from the U.S. and no one would call her white unless they are immigrants from Africa. She literally could not identify as white because she has a black parent. Are you even from the U.S. They look at her like she was insane. Trevor Noah even made a joke about declaring himself white in America and the person looked at him like he was crazy. In America white means pure so you cannot be mixed with black and call yourself white. Black is not about purity so she would be pushed into the black category.

    Being biracial can be very difficult under the best circumstances. People forget the huge spectrum available in terms of exactly how a person may appear in terms of the skin tone etc. So to biracial people may have a very different experience in this world.
