#MountSabinyo is not only the oldest #volcano in the #VirungaMountain Ranges but also one of the hardest to climb. Although shared by #DemocraticRepublicofCongo, #Rwanda and #Uganda, the summit is only accessible through the Ugandan side with the help of a solid trail of wooden ladders implemented by The Ugandan Wildlife Authority. Unlike other Virunga mountain ranges, there is no crater lake at the top but the unbelievable views will more than make up for it.
It took us total 7.5 hours to cover the total distance of 8 miles from the base to the final summit and back. You don't need to buy your permits in advance, you can buy them at the #MgahingaNationalPark HQ in #Kisoro a day before. The hike starts at 8 am so you have to be at the base by 7.30 am for that you need a 4x4 wheel that will pick you from Kisoro and drop you to the base.
