As a black man, I lived in Izmir Turkey for one year. I was in the military. The Turks were very kind and a very warm people. It was a very good experience for me. I fell in love with Turkey, the people and culture. I would love to return one day. I felt very welcomed.

As a Turkish girl, I can say that there is racism in everywhere, but in Turkey it is not that common when compared to other European countries. Yes, there is racism towards Syrians and Arabs (because of the history and politics) which I find quite nonsense, but I don't think people with black skin should worry about discrimination and racism. We just have a strange curiosity. Don't worry and be happy :)

I can say racism in Turkey not based on skin color mostly based on Ethnicity (Turks are mostly racist aganist Arabs, Armenian, Kurds and sometimes Greeks) and Many Turks hates Arabs beacuse of WW1 and also through history Arabs and Turks already doesn't like each others because of rivalry about Islam leadership but if you are Black Arab, I guess you are North African even you say I am arab people doesnt toward you badly too much but if you say your country like Morocco(Fas), Tunus, Libya you can get better react. İf you from Somalia, Mauritanya or Sudan Turks doesnt count them as Arabs already. because Turks hate mostly Middle Eastern Arabs.

well in my opinion, the strange looks might be occuring because of the lack of black people in turkey, like there are very few black people in turkey but those strange glances doesn't mean they are trying to be rude or anything, it's because they are astonished, they may as well be seeing a black person for the first time in flesh but that's my opinion and i'm sure there are some people being rude too as rude people exist in everywhere in the world

Up until the 21st century, there were literally no blacks in Turkey. And they are genetically racist, not always intentionally or in a bad way but that's how they're brought up. Nationalism is a huge deal for the Turks, not so much in western Europe. But, racism in Turkey is nothing compared to racism in Eastern Europe towards blacks. First of all...Love goes out to every country from turkey❤️. As a turk living in Germany and still having Family in Turkey i can say that the turks are very friendly to everybody. The turks are welcoming everybody to our country with open arms. Of course there are people in some parts of the country like the villages who never saw an Asian, Black or people from other countries. They are a little bit afraid because they have never seen one. So many people are taking it for granted to have internet but the people in the villages dont have it. And of course there are people in Turkey like in any other Country who are racist. But the numbers in Turkey are really low. So if anyone who wants to visit Turkey: You are welcome to our Country. We are waiting for you. Enjoy our food and our Culture. The Turks can be really happy to have so many Countrys who loves us like Japan, South Korea, Pakistan, Somalia, Albania and so on. I am gratefull for having so many brother countrys where i know that i am welcome in it. LOVE FROM TURKEY 🇹🇷❤️🌎

They look different to us because we didn't grow up with black people in the land we were born in. (I'm talking about a positive difference.) In the same way, I think that if a white person goes to a country with black people, he will be looked at in the same way (as if it were seen for the first time).* education situation? *This is a general attitude of the Turks. We are probably the most nationalist people on earth but no discrimination. We look at black people and think Subhanallah (God is perfect) He creates the most beautiful thing on earth. Black white brown all people are miracles of Allah.
