So glad you’re back. ❤
Wish I had found this years ago. My wife had me use “chalk paint” to paint the kitchen. What a nightmare it was. Never again using it. Lol
This is awesome…it’s going to be a labor of Love. ❤️

This is not labor. This is play!
Everyone do some research at your local paint department. Tell them how big your project is, location (kitchen, bathroom, etc) they should be able to guide you on the proper Paint type. I always recomment to get a paint and primer in one product it helps on coverage and time. Most products require at least 2 coats. If you are doing a primer base first...thats 1 coat of primer then its usually recommended to still apply 2 coats of paint...(Lots of work that way. Let each coat of paint dry at least 24 hours between coats to prevent bubbling or peeling
Use TSP a deglosser to clean. A portion to a gallon of water. Behr has a new self leveling paint for cabinets called CABINET TRIM AND ENAMEL. You should also use a foam roller to put the paint down. It is self leveling so no brush strokes.

@@21stCenturyRasselasWe can find both real TSP and TSP substitute easily in hardware stores in Illinois. Depends on your state?

@mollyturgess3153 Interesting, as it's been removed from the big box stores here in the arid (no rivers or beaches or lakes) west and replaced with actual product called TSP replacement, which is phosphate free. The box looks similar, and TSP is same font, but no phosphate in it. And the original is gone. I got a box at a paint store but they said it was their last, and they didn't know if they'd get new in.
I did my own video with your products
It doesn't look like you removed the drawer 'fronts' for this project? Did you just remove the whole drawer and paint the front while still attached to the drawer? 🤷♀

I did not remove the drawer fronts and you can't tell. Been doing this a while.

Hello, thank you for your interest in our paints and colors! The color used for this project is English Channel PPU14-19. Have a great day!
I just bought my paint to paint my kitchen cabinets, my question is, they previously had a brown color and we sanded them, would we have to apply primer or just the paint?
Why weren't you around a few years ago when I looked everywhere for this "How to"?
Is this water based paint or oil ?

Thanks for your question! The color English Channel can be used with any of our water-based or oil-based paints. We recommend checking out our water-based Cabinet, Door & Trim Paint for a durable finish that's perfect for cabinets. Have a great day!
so is this just Behr interior paint?

They make a specific cabinet paint so ask for then when you’re getting your color mixed. It works well and does level out when as it dries, we just did our kitchen island.
Haha if only painted cabinets actually looked that smooth using a roller and brush, I foolishly did this and ended up needing to repaint everything with a sprayer to get a professional smooth look.

With a sponge roller it ends up fairly acceptable.

I don’t let my painter use a roller on wood trim, such as windowsills, as It makes a rough surface that just cannot be cleaned. I had him sand them down and do over a few.. We had the kitchen cabinets redone in oil paint, sprayed on large flat surfaces so it was smooth. Rollers are ok for walls but having done over several houses that were real fixer uppers, that’s my take.
You did a great job on the vanity. It reminds me of my grandmothers old vanity. I would use it as a desk or a makeup vanity. Just add a standing mirror. My dad and I refinished a 1950’d Lane Cedar Hope Chest. Stripping off all the water damaged veneer and bringing out the worm wood cedar. I’m so glad you didn’t pair over the wood.
How can you paint mdf?

Hi there, thank you for your question. Our products can be applied on vertical MDF wood. We recommend making sure that the surface is in good condition, clean, and dry before priming and or painting. If the surface is glossy, it's best to scuff sand it beforehand to ensure the proper adhesion. Best of luck with your project!

@@BehrPaints Thank you! So if it's matte MDF finish, no need to sand, just primer first?

@ana419 hey! I work with MDF on a regular basis. Depending on what you're using it for and what type of finish you're trying to achieve, MDF will need some prep work. Because it is essentially a composite of a bunch of saw dust pressed together, it will feel fuzzy when painted. It is also easily damaged for the same reason. It's also extremely porous and will soak up paint quickly if not sealed first. To avoid that, as well as make it more durable, I use total boat penetrating epoxy to seal the MDF first (amazon). Then I sand it, then prime it, sand it, then paint it. If you don't want to seal it, then you MUST use oil based primer/paint. Any water based product on MDF will warp it. Regardless of which direction you choose, sanding it between layers is key - to get all the small, harden fibers smooth. Feel free to send any follow up questions. I'm happy to help.

Just cheap compressed wood, not the paint it looks good!
Please do not take this video as a reference, there are many points and factors not covered. If you do not like the result, it could end up costing you more to pay a professional to fix it than simply hiring someone from scratch (especially for kitchens).

Exactly. That interior wall paint won't last very long. Plus it will look like it was brushed and rolled.
