You know, I started translating 1000 year old Japanese stories and making them accessible to English speakers partly in the hope that they might inspire those more creative than me and then they would go create fantastic stories. So they either made Sauron so stupid that he thinks he can fool everyone by just changing his hair OR (more likely) they make everyone else so stupid that he manages to fool everyone by just changing his hair. Either way, the writers are idiots.
