The fact that even the Primordial Goddess, Gaia, saw Orion as a threat of endangering every organisms she considered as her children is kinda a big feat to me.

'The Cosmic Hunt,' or 'Orion Chasing the Pleiades' is actually believed to be the oldest story that is still passed down to the modern era. They've been able to reconstruct it going back about 35,000 years.

Yet greek or even mesopotanian civilizations didnt exist or any civilizations for a matter of fact. The story could literally just share similarities on a surface lvl, like any old story passed down and one that just happend to be techincally themeatically similar... Really humans backe then gave rise to tales based of their lives, Not to literary works

@@bennogb5069 I don't know what point you think you're making. People have been making stories based on nature or the stars long before civilization proper got started. Uncivilized tribes the world over have shared stories of a mythological character.

@@unrankedchevron742 cuz the story itself cant have been passed down like that if civilization didnt exist in the first place. Its literally Just a coincedence If anything, because the Epic of Gilgamesh is really the only one we know for sure influenced all other epics. And Just because there were stories related to constelations, doesnt relate it to one literary work in particular. Its literally just the fact one person decided to draw the constelation that looked like a bow. And hell bows werent even necissarily what the person reguarly used, so He recognized it since they had slingshots, spear launchers etc so you cant even really make that assumption.

@@bennogb5069"Orion Chasing the Pleiades" is only one version of the story, who the hunter was, who the game was, how the game was hunted down and how the hunt ended all vary from one people to another, but the basic idea that stars in the sky tell the story of a great hunt is a very old one, and by tracing it's evolution, we can track how people moved and what was important to them KZreadr Crecganford goes into more detail about this: kzread.info/dash/bejne/c4KG2Y9sc8KziaQ.html

Learning about his myths origins are pretty wild to me, considering the version of his myth i was familiar with before fate was that of a hunter who, unlike most others actually respected Artemis's women hunting, and who was shot by Apollo's plan despite not actually being Artemis's lover Of course though i have no idea where it actually comes from so it probably falls into "later fanfic" territory

I am still amazed that Orion was the one that became the Greek Grand Archer as it means he beat Heracles to the spot. Heracles, for those who don't know, has the ability Nine Lives: Shooting g The Hundred Heads which he created in his battle with the Hydra, and is so powerful that it is the single reason, in Fate, that he beat the Hydra. It had grown many hundreds of heads at the point in the battle and it would be impossible for anyone to beat it, but Heracles, in an incredibly Chad move, said "fuck that" and shot his bow so fast that every single one of the Hydra's heads died at the same time, which was enough of a shock to it that it fell over dead. This absolute monster of a move was beaten by a Big Buff Bear who punches good. It's insane.

I'm going to be honest: I've never liked Orion in fate. Not necessarily because he was/is an asshole (all Greek heros were tbh), but because how they botched Artemis. Sure, it's funny seeing the Virgin Goddess of the Hunt being some super doting, big boozonga waifu who is obsessed with Orion, the only male hunter she respected, but it's such a bastardization of the badass, female, (possibly) asexual Hunter Goddess of Greek legend that it makes be upset. Ah well, it's fate after all, where a Roman emperor can be a girl "just because", and all the servants are made into a joke at some point or another...

The funny thing in one version of Artemis stories, Aura had a discussion with Artemis, and she said that Artemis had a chest and hips too big to be considered a true virgin. The fate version is accurate to that even though it’s by accident.

@@shulkash8799 That's fair, though her personality is still way off from her mythological interpretation. If she instead was the stern serious type with a respectable honor for Orion rather than completely controlling and into romance, I'd be perfectly fine with it. But as is now ... Artemis is completely unrecognizable to her myth.
