0:30 "Nothing says it's working." Mr. Raimi can rest assured that Spider-Man 2 absolutely *did* work. It was about as good as superhero films can possibly get. But I feel bad for him, because similar feelings must have nagged at him while making the third film, and... well...

I'll be honest, I think people give him waayyy too much shit than he actually deserve for the third film. That film definitely has it's flaws but it has some great moments too. And, I'll take spider man 3 over the amazing spider man films every day.

Spider-Man was HARDLY Raimi's Spider-Man 3. Except Sandman which was still under-developed. Raimi was going great with his original draft that didn't have Venom, no Gwen Stacy, none of love triangle bs, no New Goblin all of the things that were forced upon Raimi by the producers. Raimi's original draft for SM3 was still about forgiveness and Peter finding out that there can be humanity in criminals and sometimes they have to do what they have to do. The villains were Sandman and the Vulture. Both were cellmates but they were different. Sandman was conflicted in what he was doing. The Vulture wanted to have only REVENGE against Spider-Man. The Vulture would have died after rejecting Peter's offer of peace which showed the consequences of a heart that is unable to forgive. This was a really good 3rd film and Raimi would have delivered. But the producers fucked him over and treated Raimi like dirt and destroyed his vision of Spider-Man 3 and killed Spider-Man 4 in the process. All so that they could have all hands on deck with Spider-Man instead of Raimi.

Awesome film. I was 18 when it first came out and it truly was one of the biggest blockbusters I'd ever seen at the time. People were going crazy for it. The sequel was even better, so it was just a fantastic time to be a Spidey fan

The most important aspect of Spider-Man is his constant struggle to find balance between his ordinary life as a teenager and his secondary life as a superhero. It’s not always about the big action packed adventures, but it’s also about grounded and personal stories that makes the Peter Parker character largely relatable than any other superhero. It’s also very interesting that in a way, the character of Peter Parker/Spider-Man almost has a split personality. Spider-Man is cool, funny, and charming, Peter Parker is shy, bitter, and timid. Peter Parker is a grounded everyman who lives in reality while Spider-Man is the escapism from the realism of Peter’s life. This is what makes Spider-Man one of the most iconic superheroes in comic book mythology. Is that unlike your stereotypical Gary Stu-ish characters like Superman, Batman, Captain America, Iron Man, etc, Spider-Man is literally the human in superhuman. Spidey’s got more of a bigger fan following as far as fandoms go. He’s got a lotta that human innocence to him. And Peter Parker feels like a very real and genuine person whom we all can see ourselves in. He’s just a young boy being thrusted into a crazy world of fantasy. And when he puts on that iconic red and blue Spider-Man suit and whenever he throws on the mask, we could basically imagine ourselves as Spider-Man, swinging from the tall skyscrapers and flying over the mean streets of New York. Stan Lee has always stated that the reason why Spider-Man took off and became an overnight smash hit for Marvel Comics is because anyone from different ages, ethnic backgrounds, genders, sexualities, or any walk of life can be a superhero. And that’s what makes Spider-Man such a fascinating and captivating character. He just seems to capture our imagination in an awesomely phenomenal way that no other superheroes can. Is because we can all basically project ourselves onto him. It doesn’t really matter if Spidey is portrayed by Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, or Tom Holland. Anyone can wear the mask. Anyone can be a superhero. You may not fly or have a cape, you may not be rich or have the backing of your own company, and you may not have super spider powers, but what makes you different, or the way you impact people in your life or the world you live in, is what best defines YOU a superhero.

Stan Lee: "When I did spider man, I wanted to make him a character people will believe in. So I figured, I won't make him the most handsome guy in the world, or the strongest... and I said I won't make him popular, it will be hard for him to get a girl..." That's why I think the Sam Reimi films worked much better than the amazing spiderman movies, because Reimi's trilogy showed peter just like that. in Marc Webb's films they got it the exact opposite, thus he was a character you couldn't relate to at all. And I think Tom is doing a good job so far showing that side of peter as well as the funny side of him as spiderman.

@Smiths Lego Bricks In a weird way I actually enjoyed the second film more than the first and somehow came to terms with Andrew's character in that film. It was only after some time that I realised how bad was it. It's like they took everything that was bad in spider man 3 and made it worse.

@@alexman378 and he is not often driven by responsibility, as much as I remember? He wants to save people mostly because of proving himself, not because he cares about their safety or because he wants to put his power to a good use. He ran away from conflicts in Far from home as much as he could, which I understand why, but that didn't do him justice as a character.

@@hiteshsharma9252 IIRC Raimi dropped out because he couldn't craft a script to match his own expectations in the time he was given. Plus Sony was already planning a reboot just in case, so Raimi stepped aside so not to put off the inevitable. I do feel Arad and Sony could've given more time for SM4 to get itself together by pushing it back 2-3 years at most but it is what it is.
