The CD of Mellon Collie was great. The artwork sleeve that came with it was cool AF. Kids today are missing out on how personal it was to buy a CD 💿 and read the lyrics and check out the artwork. That was just as cool as getting the music. Now they click a button on their device. Nothing personal about that. It's sad that shit is gone. 90's & 2000's were great.

Agree! After reading this I dug through some boxes and looked at the artwork on my copy of Mellon collie album for the first time probably in over 20 years, it IS really cool and beautiful artwork. That was one of my favorite things about albums back in the day, reading the lyrics and notes in the albums sleeve while listening to it. I remember being disappointed when I'd buy a new cd or cassette as a teen and it would have little to no artwork, or lyrics included.

Billy Corgan is known as a controlling tyrant, Jimmy Chamberlain raged on hard drugs, and the band was almost constantly fighting. The Smashing Pumpkins were the opposite of down to earth and chill. The band was (and is) a pressure cooker and it's blown up several times, all due to the fact that they are NOT down to earth and chill (primarily Billy). Who just wishes they had the power to jump through a screen and be back in the 80s & 90s again?? The movies, music, fashion, MTV and no cell phones and social media. Before 9/11 and only knowing your friends and family opinions about everything.

The 90s were the best decade to be young and free. No internet and social media and no smartphones. Just get in your car and drive for hours, sometimes days incommunicado. Landlines, letters, magazines, newspapers and TV was the only way you could find out what's going on. You actually valued meeting real people and having experiences together. Not like now where everyone is staring at their screens reading notifications from social media not engaging with real life but a virtual reality of virtual friends. The music today is also rubbish.

But looking back through the sands of time we took the wrong step years ago by allowing our world to be controlled by the people who issue money. The money system is totally corrupt and the media they own which pushes a false narrative. The good news is though there is an awakening when people are starting to see thru their BS.

I've long suspected this of Billy. I saw the Stern interview and raised a brow as well. Yet...who honestly cares? It's a little embarrassing going bald and at such a young age. This and the fact that Billy was on the cusp of rock, super stardom and yeah....cut him a little slack. If he wants to run with a "shave the vanity away" as a cover for his insecurities...just let it be. Jesus....the richest man in the world is bald....no fame or money can solve it. @RockMeAmadeus Nah, if you start going bald at a young age those hair transplants quickly lose their effect and start looking really bad, really fast. Now, if you are thinning out in your late-30s or so then I agree they can look good. But Billy was only late-20s and it was going fast. I think he died his hair jet black and started combing it over a bit to disguise it but after a little while thought "fuck it".

I mean they got along more than most bands and people. Darcy did work on five major label albums, one being a double album. As well as four major tours, and everything in between (demos, smaller gigs, unreleased material, record signings, press interviews etc). Most people and people who play music ditch each other at the very first disagreement.
