Behind the Scenes! - Mixing Day! - Tips and Tricks for Mixing Your Fluid Paints -- Acrylic Pouring

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

A day in the life of a fluid artist! Every few months I have a day like this where I don't paint at all, and instead I mix up my paints, clean my studio, tape the backs of my canvases and get myself ready to go for the upcoming months. It is much needed and can be very therapeutic just being in the studio. I have lots of different paint brands and colors because they each react differently! Please don't be discouraged if you art studio does look like mine. Your art studio is your safe space and can look however you like! I have been doing this for over 5 years and I have accumulated so much. Your studio will grow as you grow. Hope you enjoy the video! Thank you so much for watching. Happy painting!

I used to do pencil sketches of old buildings and love shading/realism. Then 10 years ago I developed an autoimmune disease that affected my muscles…no more art. BUT I came across one of your videos and binged watched your channel. Today I did art for the first time in 10 years! Thank you for teaching me through your channel, for showing me an art form I can do and for giving that joy back to me! ❤

I had to laugh because I used to sew all my clothing for work. I was a fabric junkie and even though I gave away and donated most of it, I still have a linen closet full of fabric and notions. It is so easy for this stuff to get away from us. 😂

Thank You Molly ! It is nice to see what you do for mixing, etc. I know it must be a lot of work. I have been watching you since not long after you started paint pouring. One of the things I remember being fascinated by was your flip cups. I remember the colors were greens you used when I began watching your channel after being off work for several months during the beginning of the Pandemic. It was when you were working with blues and you commented how you were concerned about getting the paint on the walls in your garage and what your husband might say. I’m glad to see how much support he has been to You over the years ! Thank you for always being there and taking your viewers along on your remarkable journey…. 🙏 You are loved and appreciated beyond words.

Yes, behind the scenes videos are great for us. While a lot of us do what you do on a much smaller scale, it's good to see what to do to properly dispose of paint and how to clean things off. It's amazing to see that you do all it all so responsibly on such a large scale. A lot of new painters just don't know what to do with their tools and containers so as we don't clog up sinks and harm the environment with all the supplies. So thank you for doing this. I must say WOW though I've never seen so much mixed paint ever!! I paint on such a small scale that I mix as I go!! Kudos to you for putting in all the effort that you do! Another thing that always dicourages me is all the paper towels we go through. Well I heard one artist say she goes though the trash can and grabs old ones and uses them again once they have dried. So now I am going to use a separate bag for paper towels and do the same. Can't wait to see the Artigraw photos!!

Absolutely!! We love seeing everything that goes into the world of art!! While I do paint and I appreciate the amount of work it takes to choose paint, mix it, get ready and then paint…..many people do not. Letting people see behind the scenes is nice ….quick view of the amount of work it takes to paint - not just the “quick” video posted and wow 😊 art is made! Please keep posting. You are awesome and a fantastic artist. Love your content and your work ❤

Loved this BTS video. It is Really important to share this to the public because there is a LOT of prep work & organization that takes place before you even get in front of the camera to even paint. Many people only see these beautiful creations happen in the length of the video & think, oh, that looks easy. Well, it isn't easy or fast. And you didn't even touch upon the creative process your brain goes through for new ideas & how to work them out. Or even the 'after' process, we just get to see the 'dried, finished result.' So, yes, your love of art is what draws us to you & your creativity brings us joy seeing the result, but it is still a business to navigate. Thank you for sharing. And with that BIG smile on your face & happy vibes of explaining, it comes full circle to see your business came from your LOVE of art, painting. And, we are still the lucky ones getting to see it happen. Anyway, that's how I feel about it. Many ancient ages ago, I went to college for art. I know how hard you work & remember the feelings seeing the results. I'll always be a fan Molly! Keep the videos coming.😊

I loved this Molly!! Prep is key to any project and I am loving how more are actually showing that process. People that do not do stuff like we do or even say…home remodeling, have no idea all the long hours and “extra” work that actually goes into doing these things. There is so much more of the before and after that goes into beautiful pieces than what is shown on videos. Some of my videos would be like 3hrs long if I showed everything or didn’t speed them up 😂 Love ya girl!!! Your silliness and overall love of doing this is why I started watching when I started. Your skill and talent is what keeps everyone here. Keeping it real is one of the things I love most about you!! 💖

I do exactly the same thing. I was gifted storage unit shelves last year for my birthday from my sister because she knows the paint accumulation needed to be organized. Do you feel like when you become "obsessed" with a technique it seems like that's all I have been painting. Deconstructed blooms with different techniques sometimes swipes, balloon kisses seem to be most fun lately. Love your inspiration sweetie 🙏💖

Oh, I have a tip for you for once! When you were talking about cleaning out the plastic cups, the ones where there are only little bits of paint so it doesn't peel out easily....put some rubbing alcohol on a bit of paper towel and you can rub the paint right out! Sometimes it takes a little elbow grease, but it usually is pretty easy. If your hands dry out easily you might want to wear a disposable glove to protect it from the alcohol. And thank you for the gardening glove idea. When I mix a lot of paint I always end up with a sore on one of my fingers. It never even occurred to me to wear a glove! I'm definitely grabbing one next time I'm at the store!

Molly, we miss you too when you do shows or just take a break. You are incredibly approachable and generous with your time and knowledge and I (and I’m sure many others) appreciate your willingness to share. I love the behind-the-scenes videos you do. In addition to what you have done, I would love to know which paint brands, PMs and consistencies you use for each technique. I’ve been playing in the paint for about 9 months. I keep a journal of my experiments and outcomes, but I still don’t have as many “controlled” successes as I’d like. Knowing what formulas to use would be a great help. Thank you.
