    In Norway they have used remote controlled machines for cleaning up an old testingfield for ammo. There were about 6 machines on the site, and all the drivers were inside a building about about 1 kilometer away (if I remember correctly). They were sitting in copies of the cockpits looking at big screens, all in the same room, drinking coffee, talking sh*t and having a really good time while working on the site.

    Easily one of the most interesting episodes Chris has posted. It seems there's a lot of logistics and planing that goes into events like this. Including serious lead time getting equipment and other items staged well ahead of time. Thanks for the tag along Chris.

Here in Australia our rail network is not so good, so we rely a lot on road transport. I guess the future 18 wheelers will be a little similar to the off road hydrogen fuel cell electric truck you showed. Take care & cheers 😊

    You just made me super tired remembering the setup of our John Deere shows. The hauling, cleaning, shining the tires, waxing but we had a week to get ready but I did enjoy the days the show ran. This was in the time John Deere was buying all their distributors and keeping all the info correct for the customer. Your doing a super job especially with the remote machines.

    Awesome video Chris, im just gonna be honest, not a fan of the electric machines, quiet and all but then ya gotta stop to charge, gotta hall the charger so that's another expense if you can't haul it yourself, but they are cool though, I'd be curious to see what the breakout force is, well Chris it's a good thing you just got your new one an you have the old one, thanks for sharing an I look forward to seeing the next video as always, God bless 💪🇺🇲🤙✊👌 Bucket list of mine is to go-to Conexpo, wanna meet ya at the show, maybe next show I can make it!

    The remote has all kinds of options. Say building a block wall you could stand next to the wall and make sure the block is level and inline. Then reach over get another block and keep going. I thought it was ridiculous at first but now no. you could build a block retaining wall by yourself if you had to.

    The fossil free steel comes from a Swedish prototype steel plant which uses hydrogen rather than coke. Presumably the carbon in the steel comes from another source - haven't looked too deeply into it since I read the original press release last year. I've been thinking about the electric excavator for a while. I still think it's an interesting idea and has a fair bit of potential to be had. Only limiter being run time and charge time plus the accessories needed. But at the same time, maybe make it more of a machine that has a fixed place, such as in a transfer station to feed a grinder/shear for garbage reduction. A longer stick and boom for a scrap metal yard to feed a hammer mill or load/unload trucks and rail cars. At the intake for a lumber mill to load bark/wood chips. Keep the batteries or cut down on the number of cells while having it attached to an umbilical power supply. If it needs to be moved, disconnect the umbilical use the batteries to move to a new location, plug back in. I can also see it being handy just with batteries for very niche needs that don't require extended usage. Especially when there is concern about noise and exhaust in a confined or enclosed space.

  • @lacombar

    @lacombar

    if it's a mildly fixed machine, the battery is a waste, might as well fully tether the damn thing.
