The biggest critique (and it's absolutely accurate) is that the main character responds unrealistically to the things happening around her. Don't know how I didn't see that while we were making it but that was definitely a directing/script problem. Luckily, we took that criticism and tried to make sure that in our latest film we tackled it. Thanks for the feedback! If you want to see a somewhat intelligent character check Home Movies out!

The film has a really great concept and is very creepy, and even if the main character doesn't react adequately, one could argue that this is her nightmare. I really loved it!

That shot of the monster sneaking up behind her, with its distorted face just out of focus, is one of the creepiest things I've seen in a long time.

The part where the thing was behind her and there was no music was terrifying. It’s always more unsettling when the film doesn’t acknowledge when something is scary by playing an obnoxiously loud noise.

I admire the subtlety. It would have been really easy to have the thing behind her appear in a jump scare, complete with jarring sudden music, but the fact it was just there, silently getting closer, was much scarier.

I love the way she seems that type of character who's more curious than afraid, having less fear than the recomended lol. Some people call it dumbness, but I loved so much the fact she was made like this, and the whole story too. The frames, the whole concept, the way she logically took the weapon to protect herself. Probably in this part they made clear that she wasn't dumb, was just exploring and trying to understand but should have done this a little bit more carefully. Awesome work, so happy I've found this. Congrats!

You're right and wrong, while she definitely was curious and fearful and responded naturally to how she thought, that doesn't nullify the absolute bafoonery she does. I'm not gonna act like because doing shit slowly and having a constant calm curious look on your face is natural for you isn't dumb.

This is a really brilliantly devised and directed short horror film. It's essentially one location, but full of invention and suspense. I thought the paintings in the film really added to the unsettling vibe too.

Not bad but I think the character could've been smarter.

Horror movies are basically mystery movies in which character realizes that they shouldn't follow the path of the mystery too late. And you seem to understand that much better than many professional horror directors. I almost pissed my pants during this one! A fan!

No jump-scares - I liked it! SPOILERS!!! First and foremost, thank you for having her use the weapon! Any time shenanigans are happening, grab SOMETHING! Well done! Claims of her reactions being "unrealistic" are somewhat diminished when you remember that the first two photos swapped her cellphone for a jewelry box, and gave her a piece of wall art. Not exactly terrifying (drawing her into the mystery). After initially dismissing the weapon photo, she immediately retrieved it when it was appropriate. That's a huge win, for me. Plus, I liked that the monster was not the only threat. Ominous Photo stories have been done before, but this had a different vibe to me: more thought put into it (a better story), good editing, no jump-scares. Win, win, win. I liked it... :)

The first picture should've scared her but no...she just had to be stupid.

I really liked it. I liked that she was quiet throughout and just confused more than anything. That thing was creepy as hell. The only thing that I thought could’ve been different was that even though visually it looked cooler for her to hold up the pictures and then have it appear, I thought it would’ve been more realistic for her to look up, look down at the photo, and then look up again and see the box on her dresser. The holding up the photo thing reminds me of the KZread videos where they show you were X scene was filmed from a franchise IRL, like Avengers or Harry Potter or something like that, which is obviously a different tone. But I thought it was great - love the reflection at the end.

Finally you get a horror film where the main character learns quickly only to be defeated by her own stupidity. I first thought your an idiot than she started following the instructions. She was almost out of danger! Then she had to lift that damn picture in front of her damn face. Stupid Girl!!! If she had kept it down she would have lived. So sad! And whatever that F***ing thing was in the closet. I want episode 2 to be released. We have to learn more about him and what's his story. Good job to those who made this! It got me really interested and now I want more.

Extremely late to the party here but the moment the box appeared, I was expecting some sort of sound but the lack of it made my heart sink. Really shows how effective you can be (and maybe even better) without something like it. Absolutely amazing. The shots are really good and that one around 5:28 where it was behind her was crazy good, I had to watch it again. Amazing ending as well. EDIT: I noticed you were also behind Portrait of God and it's so cool because I loved that so much.

when the face doesn't scare you but the ripping sound from the paper does....

using the reflections in the picture frame on the floor was really creative especially in capturing what happened in the end and with the monster behind her

to be honest how she reacted is more realistic to me then you would think , in my mind , if something like this happened my whole life would be a lie , everything i know now would not make sense and id only be focused on trying to figure out what the pictures mean rather then be scared and or pretend nothing happened

The concept on this one is soooo good. I love it. One of my fave short horror films I've seen recently

At least for once, a horror short film that is not about cheap cliche jumpscares, dear lord. Also, interesting concept, with the photos turning into reality and all, and great audio, the soundtrack actually made me feel tense during the whole thing, this one was noice

The way she keeps going is more reminiscent of a fable than a real response to that series of messed up events. With that said... cool concept.

Subtle horror is fucking fantastic, and far more terrifying than jumpscares and gore.

My favorite things about this: 1. The "broad daylight horror" 2. You can actually see the monster at 3:02! 3. The choice not to show the corpse onscreen, only through her reactions and the photo. It really gets you thinking about photos and video and about how "real" it makes everything seem. It made me wonder, for a second, if my computer screen could somehow harness the power of the photos and transport the horror into my own room

One of the only times I went "oh shit" out loud (you know the part, where it appears behind her). This was SO well done.

Amazing, had me looking away from the screen in suspense, especially with the photos.That ending was done perfectly, and is my favorite part.

Lol when she said hello to the feet, first thing i thought of was Ed from saun of the dead yelling "OI PRICK".

I love the subtil moment at 05:27. Timing and sounddesign was just brilliant. Wise choice to set it at daylight. We did something similar but it was a bit to dark, so it heavily depented on the viewingdevice.

She dodged a bullet there by tearing the pic that had that monster creeping up behind her

Loved this short. Great tension building throughout with a tight conclusion. I especially liked the showing of the dead body in the hallway through the photograph and the face in the dark closet/behind her. Nice work!

The way that she is going along with everything kinda reminds me of other horror media protags that progress the plot forward due to being in a dreamlike state (such as the characters from Carnival of Souls, Silent Hill 4, Jacob's Ladder, and Session 9 to name a few). Makes me wonder if she was in some sort of possessed state or something…

This actually scared the f*** out of me. For real. 3, almost 3:30am, and this pops up on my news feed out of nowhere. It's been a while since I've seen a good horror short, and this one is actually amazing. Genuinely got to me. I've definetly gotta subscribe after seeing this! Amazing work!

yeah i’m having to pause every so often after seeing that thing appear behind her. i’m having a hard time finishing. i don’t ever have a hard time watching a horror film but THIS. this got me. 10/10

Great short! Love the idea behind the story. Very well executed. Other than the main character remaining too calm as weird shit happens around her - this was really fun to watch. And that smiling ghoul was scary AF!

One question: What did it say on the back of that photograph at the end?? Why only show part of it, if its a plot-point?? But good work on this film...the dread was creeping & well-done!

As much as most people want to deny it, I think humans have a general sense of morbid curiosity. The same reason we know a car accident is undeniably horrible, but it’s grotesquely tempting to watch. We fear the unknown, yet er also feel the need to know as much as possible.

Another amazing idea. Your are very talented, i could tell this probably took lots of brain work to fit all the pieces together

This is actually a very brilliant idea, I'd LOVE to see something like this a lot longer with more in depth story to it. But the one thing that gets me is the last picture. She didn't look at the picture so how would she know there was a rope around her neck? I mean, the picture wasn't against the wall until she looked at it at the picture, the machete wasn't there until she looked at the picture and neither was the body. Again brilliant concept, definitely a different twist! 👏👍

She held the picture in front of her, therefore making it real. So when it became real, so did the rope. I would've just torn all the pictures instead of the jewelry box. Also, not touched the weapon without using my sleeves... in case the murder was real, couldn't be traced back to me.

If all it took was looking at the picture & then it appeared, then all the item's would have appeared the moment she looked at the pics before holding each one up to the intended location.

I think it’s less she has to see the picture, and more they have to be held up in such a way they overlap the image in the picture, at which point they bring it to life. Her seeing them isn’t a requirement.

The reason why the closet Scene was so disturbing was because the suspense, giving us a feeling that there a 100% chance that there's going to be a jump scare, but we instead see the thing. Which catches' you off guard and then now your just focused on the creature.

Too awesome .. too creative .. i wish u could relate to a world wide horror movies

I would argue that all speculative fiction including horror is “weird” to a certain extent.
