    Speaking of those buttons, how is that possible? Aren't the roboRIO's outputs disabled on the firmware level while the robot is in disabled mode?

    belt driven. they designed the custom bearing blocks so the second stage is offset, in order to have enough space for the belt (>0.2" in with offset compared to 0.125" in between the stages without the offset)

    How do make sure the bot doesn’t tip over when the arm is fully extended to score? Looks like all the weight is on one side.

    One of their frame rails is brass instead of aluminum, so it weighs down the other side while they extend.
