@@shainitagomez7664 a band is a unit of instruments and the vocals are also an instrument and a part of that unit. If someone was to say I like Behemoths guitar tone or sound it still makes sense. The commenter KNOWS that's not his name LOL....I mean if he's a fan of the band and Nergals name is in the title wouldn't you get that. He's just complimenting the bands vocals as compared to other similar bands. People speak as a band as a whole. He understood what he was saying.

Behemoth is all NEW for me. I accidentally discovered them recently...it ended up, me liking Bartzabel as my favorite behemoth song ( and video)...I'm Catholic, but, I understand Nergal...his thoughts and feelings...I like him. I like Behemoth.

Dude same! “Bartzabel” was the first Behemoth song I ever heard and ever since then it’s been my favorite song! I’m also Catholic, and I love this stuff! Don’t let religious barriers/norms keep you from enjoying music like this!

Dramargu Melt is one of my favourite creepy metal songs. The mental image it gives me is more chilling than any screaming about demons that I've ever heard. 😄 Also, thanks for the growling tips Nergal!!

Good to know, I became a fan just after the release of the last album followed by your show in Rio.

This is the best advice for voice of any vocals or genre not just screaming or growling but singing too from rock to the even the gayest of pop, this is how you get the absolute best out of your voice and once I realized this, my voice opened up dramatically. Sing in the most natural way your voice works like you speak every day. I think your voice kind of automatically knows how it's supposed to work optimally if you don't fight it.

He resembles Varg a little in this video sometimes.

Logan Clarry He's fucking with your brain a bit! He loves heavy Metal as much as me and you. He'll be back to that genre in a year. Back in BLACK LEATHER ready to Metal! Nergal isn't the type to stop wearing BLACK LEATHER and start wearing shit color lether to look like a walking load of shit that just came out my ass. Get it? I listen to all sorts of Heavy Metal music(Black, Dark Death, Glam/hard rock, Punk and Thrash) because of its great music. I never knew why religious fanatics called my kind of Heavy Metal music Satanic until I read and listen carefully to those lyrics of such songs like "In League with Satan", then it dawned on me! Lines like "I drink the blood"(from Krisiun) , "I will kill you" (from Cannibal Corpse) and "I kill", most people take literally, are Satanic. They think people who listen to such music are Satanic. And even accused me of being a BLACK LEATHER-cladded Satanic man for listening to such. If they heard those exact same lines come out from an actor's mouth in a movie, would they have reacted the same way? Bullshit. I listen to it because of its great music but I don't consider myself Satanic. True. They are not your regular mild metaphors, such as "soldier of darkness". After all, they are just lyrics, people. Don't take it to the heart! One of my favorite classic cheesy horror-comedy film is "Psycho Cop (1989)" starring Bob Ray Schafer. Check it out! It's hilarious!

This is the first comment so let me say thanks for the advice and time! Holy shit...I was honored and blown the fuck away by that performance in August of 2010 e.v. at Mayhem Fest. I was so thankful to have such a experience.

His vocals on The Satanist are some of my favorite harsh vocals ever, so I'm inclined to agree with his conclusion here. It holds true in my own experience as well; my mid-to-high range growls come fairly naturally and I feel pretty confident in the quality of them. I'm not sure if lows come naturally to _anyone_ all things considered, but I certainly do lack confidence in mine. Luckily for me I don't particularly want to pursue them anyway.

A Hill To Die Upon from downstate Illinois introduced a new death metal style vocal I coined The Angry God vocals. Nergal's growl is designed for darker styles of death metal as John Welborn and Paul Kuhr have literate lyrics with their growl as they combine it with clean vocals (Paul has a goth metal clean vocal while John has a poetic 17th century english style delivery.)

After 10 years break I record my own metal album right now...and getting back into vocals was really hard. I think that really you need to listen to your body and not to anyone else. Because metal vocals really demand your whole body to be involved.

Shit. I liked apostasys vocals. Even demigod I like the evil, shredded vocals. And with the decision to carry the same vocals as satanist, I know it's harsh on his vocals, I'm not happy with, but at least the current vocals still have some gut to it. Some monster still.

I freakin love vocals on The Satanist, it's just the thing of taste I guess, but I like more "'natural sounding vocals". I guess I am more on the black metal side and you are more of a death metal fan. The more of a black metal sound, the better it sounds to me! :)

Agressive Vocals, recording quality, guitars/bass' hard-hitting tone, tight rhythm and technique without showing-off on most songs, consistent drums and otherwordly solos. Horns ov Baphomet, No Sympathy for Fools, Zos Kia Cultus, As Above so Below... All GREAT songs

True! The drums there are really intense! I think the rhythms is what I like the most on Zos Kia...

I like Nergal's dark themes! I love his low deep bass heavy Metal voice when he sings. Man, I'd love to have his heavy Metal voice cuz I like Heavy Metal songs. Mine is just a sinister sounding low deep bass voice and it lacks something. It doesn't quite sound like Nergal's. Ever watched "Freddy jobling gialle" youtube vid? I think Nergal could definitely sing a Metal song for that film.

Met Nergal personally outside of a bar in Chicago called Bottom Lounge while they were on tour a few years back. They absolutely killed it. The show was intense and he actually talked to us like people and he was a really cool dude and he signed our tickets and took pictures with us. He wasnt this jumpy in person because I think he relaxes better around actual people instead of talking to a camera. Which I think we can all relate to. Orien and Inferno were douchebags.

Great advice. I went back and listened to the comparison Apostasy vs. Satanist, can very well tell the difference.

First handoff of the Satanist album I gave to a buddy of mine I mentioned right off the bat that the album has so much atmosphere for a metal album and so much emotion behind it especially with Nergals vocals and watching this confirmed that I just wasnt spitting filth out of my mouth lol and that the Satanist really can be felt on a much deeper level emotionally compared to most metal albums. Love Behemoth 👍

Alonzo You didn't understand. It is is naturall growling death voice. Sure its different compared to speaking voice but it is HIS death voice. The point is not to force your voice like your idol or favorite vocalist. He doesn't try to sound like someone else.

Something like tunnel throat gives you a totally different voice in a safer way but yeah forcing your voice is no good

No, there was a inner circle of Polish Black Metal bands known as the Temple of Fullmoon, it included bands such as Graveland, Veles, Behemoth, Xantotol. Very similar to the Inner Circle in Norway (Mayhem, Emperor, etc).

Try by imitating other Death Metal vocalists. I started by trying to imitate Bill Steer and Jeff Walker from Carcass, then the singer of Impetigo and DeathCult(the real L.A. version) Martin Van Drunen from pestilence, and John Tardy from Obituary, and try to experiment with the singer from Bolt Thrower, some early Grave, and try to find your own voice. I became one of the world's best Death Metal vocalists, too bad I didn't have the funds to be heard more. Now there are singers that can sing Wayyyyyy better than I ever could. Good luck, have fun!

Demigod was great... The newer music seems to be for pleasing more people, as far as their sound goes. The current Behemoth seems "calmed down". I'm definitely more into Black Metal, but The vocals in Demigod were unique and there's nothing like it. Although, they have grown to be successful.

Nergal claims the top spot for musicians who inspire me the most right now...I have come to find his strength and lack of fear towards expressing his own personal beliefs very admirable. Nergal has helped provide the motivation and appreciation I've begun to develop as my own true self, that is NOT possible with Christianity and most other religions

But if someone don't know how to do it right,injuring the vocal cord is certainly happening that your vocal range became less than one octave in the best casein.

But I couldn't choose a favorite song from their album The Satanist because I fucking love every single song from that album

Ilan Begon Being a BLACK LEATHER-cladded Metal headbanger is okay. I am one. Heavy Black Metal (or rock 'n roll or Hard Rock) and BLACK LEATHERS are made for each other. The music is great to listen to and yes, most of the songs' lyrics are creative metaphors used to compare and/or contrast something symbolic or represent something. A few Metal songs are telling a fairy tale of some sort. And yes,there are a few other songs like "Hammer Smashed Head", "I will Kill You" and "In League with Satan" that you should listen to in private. I do just that. If people knew I listen to such music, they will start thinking that I am some evil BLACK LEATHER-cladded/panted Satanic headbanger, and they won't fall for my "trust me" lines anymore. I don't need to deal with that kind of thing right now. I am a good BLACK LEATHER-cladded Atheist who likes listening to Heavy Metal.

I've got my low deep bass black Metal voice very easily because my natural voice is already deep and low bass! All I had to do was growl. No forcing throat. It complements my BLACK LEATHERS real nice...I can sing along with Venom or Slayer or ....

First you get a cool voice then you stop doing it and start touring with Volbeat.

Just use your stomache. If the air comes from the stomache it will not hurt your throat. In other words, let it come out natural. (For instance listen to a little child screaming like a possessed. Why doesnt the child get problems with the throat? Simply beacause the child use the stomache).

One good trick is to lay a finger at the stomache and say "ts, ts......." And before singing, warm up your voice with singing in a very dark tune.

Nurgal's vocals live sounds worse now though.
